As of today, not a HOFer. He's had a good enough career though that a championship, or maybe some iconic moments in the playoffs before he retires could possibly get him in.

How many people here fluffing Rivers and saying ignore the playoffs are first in line to dis Peyton as a "regular season QB"?

Eli is most definitely getting into the hall and I think Rivers is a better QB.

Eli's playoff record and multiple SB MVPs is not something you can just discount when comparing the resumes.

Being great in the biggest moments is something the Hall should factor in. There is no blanket criteria for getting it so it will always be subjective.

I think the hall should be for the best of the best. That is not Eli. If you let him in, that should open the door for Rivers. But it won't.

Who says Rivers isn't getting in? He still has career left to accumulate stats.

Why? Eli has two things that are very important for HOF status that Rivers doesn't have.

Eli and Rivers are two different arguments, but I get his point.

Eli has two rings, but slightly above average numbers everywhere else.

Rivers has elite numbers, but no rings.

I despise how much influence Superbowls have on the HOF, particularly in a game with 21 other starters. If Eli gets in and Rivers is left out, it would be a travesty IMO, which is the point I believe he was trying to make.

Agreed, but the SB is not the only big moment in a player's career. The playoffs in general are pretty big moments, and Eli has gone 0-1 three times with 2 TDs and 6 INTs in those game. He's also had two magical runs with rings and 15 TDs and 2 INTs.

He has rarely been a Top 10 QB in the league, if ever outside of 2011 when his Passer rating was 7th in the league.

Rivers has been in the Top 5 passer ratings 3 times and the Top 10 5 times.

Romo belongs no where near the HOF.

It's not that important. There are numerous QBs in the HOF without SB rings.

I think it's possible to recognize that both Eli and Rivers have compelling arguments for the HOF. One doesn't have to be propped up at the expense of the other.

Possibly, but someone mentioned his playoff failure, even though that's a team stat... (winning)

He did benefit from playing with Antonio Gates, LaDanian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, Darren Sproles, Vincent Jackson and so forth. And his defense was stacked as well at times. Kind of amazing they never got to a Super Bowl with that kind of team.

I agree. I was mostly just asking why they have to be tied to each other on getting in one day.

I still think Rivers is just in the very good category for now unless he can either have big playoff moments before he's done or pass Fouts for all time Chargers passer. Which he should pass Fouts.
