Its all in his head. For the 1st time in his life, shite is not going his way. He can't handle it mentaly. Most on here WILL NOT realize this. Golf has alot of mental isues with it. I have been saying for over a year that it a mental issue and NOBODY would listen.

Peej, we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
Is he not as mentally dominant as he once was? Absolutely. But I give him credit for being smart enough to recognize and understand that his game and swing are a far cry from what they were two+ years ago.

it's mental for sure.
but there are some serious mechanical issues with his swing.
Tiger changed up his putting stroke in order to conform to the Foley swing principles.
He's playing worse now than he did right after the scandal when the focus on him was even more ridiculous.
I see him jettisoning the Foley swing and going back to the swing he's used in the last 7 years.

To get back to the event for a moment. Who in the hell is going to win this PGA Championship? 20 players within 5 shots of the lead. I'll take Furyk. How about you?

How about THIS. The guy had an AMAZING focus even when he was screwin around. But NOW that he has been caught, his SILVER LINING is gone. The dude brought ALOT of shite on himself and its cathcing up with him. His Body is not the same. He fires his caddy, we don't know what the conditions are about seeing the kids, AND he iSN"T THAT

I agree 100% with every thing you wrote. We remember when Tiger was tied for the lead or had the lead in a major heading into Sunday, forget it. Everybody else is playing for 2nd place.
And you are 100% spot on when you say Tiger brought it all upon himself. But like I've said previously. I'm not ready to stick a fork in him.
2012 in my mind is a make or break year for Tiger in his pursuit of Jack's record. If he doesn't get a W in one of the 4 majors, then in my mind he can forget about catching Jack.

the mental problem is his thinking there is some holy grail of swings that he can get to that will eliminate all mistakes, which leads to endless tweaks and tinkering. He needs to fire his coach, take a month off, go back to some basic concepts, spend most of his practice time on the short game and just go play golf...

Why does everything HAVE to be about JACKS record????
How about just being a competitive golfer again. NOBODY FEARS him anymore. THIS is one thing he will NEVER GET BACK. It was a MAJOR part of his game. As far as GOLF TERMS. He has HIT ROCK BOTTOM. YOU can't argue this.

Come on Peej. You know better.
Do you think Tiger cares more about whether or not he wins another Tour event at Torrey Pines or breaks Jack's major record?

At this point he NEEDS to win a Torrey pines before he can even think of winning a major. It will take time. However??? Is he too far gone?? What Caddy does he get?? I mean if he takes the rest of the year off, what does THAT really mean??? OK he gets a new caddy and works on his swing. BUT I WILL SAY THIS AGAIN, He is DONE as far as what he was as far as a Sponser guy and his IMAGE is DAMAGED FOREVER. I guess what I am saying is that there has NEVER been a GLOBAL SUPERSTAR that has fallen SO OOOOO Far as he has. I just DO NOT think he can overcome this. I AM a golf fan. and have been since 1970. This guy had the world at his feet AND KNEW IT. IT got the best of him.

That's why I think 2012 is a make or break year for Tiger. If he wins at Torrey Pines, that's nice. If he goes 0 for 4 in the majors, in Tiger's mind that's not nice.
And I agree 100% that he's brought all of his off the course problems upon himself. The good news is I don't think we need to have a benefit for him quite yet.

Saw this projection earlier today:
OWGR=Official World Golf Ranking
Before Thanksgiving of 2009, I would have bet just about everything I owned that Tiger Woods would be ranked inside the top 50 in the world for the rest of his career.

Just a projection, but if Tiger Woods doesn't play again this season, will drop to 46th in OWGR after Tour Championship and 58th after HSBC.

Good god he's thirty-f*cking five years old...that's like half way by today's tour standards. Say what you want but golf is about talent and preparation...Tiger is more talented than anyone else out there and he just needs to get in some good routines in preparation and stay injury free for a while and it will come back. he probably won't win at the rate he did in the past but he'll find it again.

I agree. He's too talented to just fade away like David Duval or Ian Baker Finch. No one will ever dominate like he did in the past, including Tiger again. I think the bigger thing is for him to get his head screwed on straight. That's got to come first. If he does that, the rest will come.
