If I read it correctly and he's not being reinstated this is fricking dumb IMO

Why should he be reinstated?

He signed the agreement, he bet on baseball, he lied to the public, and he is paying the price.

I went to high school w/ the son of the lawyer for MLB against Rose. It's called the Dowd Case. He always said that Rose would never be reinstated b/c the commissioner at the time was Giamatti, and that the case distraught him so much that it led to the heartache that killed him. And that baseball would always honor Giamatti by not reinstating Rose. Well that, and they had so much against Rose that has never been made public.

Interesting fact, one of Giamatti's sons is Paul, the actor.

He probably should not have admitted that he still bets on baseball.

Since Manfred decided earlier that he "couldn't" overturn Joe Jackson's ban there's no way he could overturn Rose's.

He's a bonafide scumbag and doesn't deserve to be back.

Not surprised, he's never going to be reinstated. Poor fella he was a hell of a player, but in the end what he did was very scumbaggish.

Yeah I mean what he did was wrong but it's been several decades now, we as a society have forgiven ppl for much worse

Btw, anyone know why he signed the agreement in the first place? What was in it for him? What leverage did they have?

I say let him posthumously and make him aware that he can be up to be let in after he passes.

Because it allowed him to apply for reinstatement. Also it allowed the Dowd Report to stay sealed in places and not get his bookies in trouble.

He knew the rule, it is posted on every clubhouse in professional (including independent leagues) and you are talked to about it.
