In an eye-opening move, Fox Sports has hired Pete Rose as an MLB analyst.
foxsportsnewRose will join FOX and Fox Sports 1 as an analyst for the MLB on FOX pregame show as well as Fox Sports 1 studio shows Fox Sports Live, America’s Pregame and MLB Whiparound. The news was announced not by press release, but in a report by Fox Sports MLB writer Ken Rosenthal.
Rosenthal’s report characterized Rose as a guest analyst, but all other indications in the piece were that he will have a regular role.
Rose, as is well known, has been banned from baseball for over a quarter-century after betting on games while manager of the Cincinnati Reds. His quest to get back into baseball and be elected to the Hall of Fame has been one of the sport’s enduring off-field storylines.
Major League Baseball did not have a say as to whether Fox Sports could hire Rose.

I would be interested in his opinion

I wish they'd let him in the hall. Even at home.

Maybe he can stop posting on here now.

Fox sports is betting on this helps their ratings

Agreed. Like Costas said years ago, let him in the Hall because of his playing days, and keep him banned form baseball because of his managing days.

I was going for the slightly more diplomatic "Maybe he can stop starting so many threads on here now" but you beat me with the sentiment by a few minutes.

I bet he will do a good job.

Forget Shoeless Joe. That was an unforgivable sin for a player. I don't care how long it's been.
All the rest should be in the Hall. Everyone from 1990-2005 was on steroids. Everything is relative. Take the records with a grain of salt, but let Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro and everyone else from then who's deserving.

I'd probably have to read up more on Joe seeing that he hit .350.

.375/.394/.563 in the world series they are accused of throwing, averages higher than the world series they won

Bill James: "People who want to put Joe Jackson in the Hall of Fame are baseball's answer to those women who show up at murder trails wanting to marry the cute murderer."

Bill James is wrong on this one, Shoeless Joe was the best player on the Sox.

Not sure McGwire is still worthy if you discount the inflated home run numbers from the Steroid Era.
