People who do this kind of shite are highly compulsive. If you don't do anything you are a secondary offender.
From attending counseling as one of three "anchors" with my friend, I know this is true.

so there are three instances when something could have been done by the college, and wasn't?
98 - mom calls and notifies of shower
?? - janitor witness shower incident, tells his/her boss and it doesn't go any further
02 - mcqueary incident
Unbelievable.

He knew of allegations. He didn't know Sandusky was continually butt fricking blowing and fondling little boys in his home basement or in the locker room after hours.

PSU really, really dropped the ball on this one.

this cat is a sick frick, that will get whats comming to him. But i honestly dont believe paterno knew "this kind of shite" was what was going on and didn't say nothing. he doesn't seem like the kind of person, so just like i cant assume he isn't that type of person, no one else should assume he is and knew what was going on and covered it up. Let the courts do their job and we wait and see

If an old man is showering with a 10 year old kid you call the cops! Why in the hell would a fricking 58 year old man be showering with a kid after hours in an empty university locker room? People - wake the frick up!

quote:Have you read the grand jury;s finding of facts? Paterno acknowledged that he was told about a 10 year old being raped in the locker room shower. He claims that the GA that told him was too distraught to relay the details and only knew that something inappropriate had been witnessed, but that he told his superiors and was told it was being handled.

Choose to believe what you want, but in my mind, Joe Pa absolutely knew about at least one incident and almost certainly 2 or 3 at a minimum.

We disagree. Passing the buck isn't acceptable, which it appears JoPa did. This was WAY too important to pass on.
It only doesn't seem acceptable because you probably just read this grand jury report of descriptive allegations of a man molesting little boys, and it made you mad. And you ask yourself how it could have been prevented, and one of the answers is for Joe Pa to say something to police rather than bring it up to people that pay him.
But going back in time, there was nothing wrong with what he did regarding that specific matter.

Joe is a football coach. He's not an administrator. It's not in his job description to perform a citizen's arrest on the guy. He did what is required of him.

I don't think so. In fact, I think the opposite is true. If what we know is true, Paterno dropped the ball. If you speculate something else happened and Paterno may have done more. well...that is the definition of "pure speculation."
You even say yourself "if what we know is true." That's my point...you don't. All it says in that report about JoePa is this:
GA sees something, gets in touch with JP, who then puts the GA in touch with his superiors. The superiors meet with the GA and it proceeds from there. JoePa wasn't even at the meeting with the GA and the AD (and nor should he have been at that initial point).
People saying JP should've called the cops are acting like he did nothing, when in fact it appears that he reported the situation to his superiors and let them handle it. Thus why the "cover-up" is on them and not JP (at this point).
And keep in mind that all of those 23 pages aren't proven facts yet. Of course, it's likely to be true or mostly true, but at this point, it's statements that need to be proven true. And nothing in there points to JP being "guilty" of anything.

Which he did noting to stop.
JoPa isn't stupid enough to believe it wouldn't happen again.

Hey now, Joe Pa is just a middle manager, it wasn't his place to stick his nose in somebody else's business. one of his employees tells him "hey corch Paterno, I saw our DC doing some very disturbing stuff to a 10 year old in a shower in the football building after hours". Poor coach was so overworked on game planning and recruiting in MARCH that he didn't have time to ascertain the details of the "disturbing stuff our DC did to a 10 year old boy in the shower in our football building after hours", that he tells the employee, "hey now you seem very distraught about what you saw. I'll tell my boss about it. just hold tight for while until we get our ducks in a row. Got some film to breakdown but I'll get back to you. Say, son, I have always felt you could possibly be a head coach one day... you want to be a head coach one day don't you son? It would be a shame for you to get off on the wrong path here..."

I agree. McQueary should have stopped what was going on and called the cops on the spot. This isnt a Joe Pa problem. You have a first hand witness who not only does not interject at the locker room, he doesn't even call the cops right after.
Yet people read all this bullshite and Joe Pa's face pops in their head. Automatically they become enraged with him. He is the face of the program for 4 decades. He must be responsible!!!!!!
how stupid can people be, I do not know.

He knew and he chose to be quiet. Let go of the man's legend cause at the end of the day he is just a man who chose silence over action and now hides behind "I did it right".

My bad. It's hard to tell a difference between your fake, jokey bullshite and your serious bullshite.

Wrong. I haven't even read that as of yet. Just going by the press conference and what I have heard.

Its the only answer. The controversy surrounding JoPa right now is deserved. Do you not agree that his own actions, or inactivity caused some blame to be focused on him?

Because he is the face of the program he is responsible. Hes the boss, and anything that goes on under him is his responsibility.

I give the GA, JoPa, and the two asshats that didn't do anything at the top responsibility. Once you knew something of this - you report it to the authorities. Geez, not even a call to child protective services for an inquiry?
