Perfect Case in this Article for Why Joe Paterno should resign/be fired

JOe Paterno should resign
Everything I wanted to make a post about was basically said perfectly in this article. It is a farce that this man and anyone at all who had the knowleget they had about Sandusky on more than one occasion can deny their role in a systemic cover up of the actions. Paterno is as guilty as sandusky in my opinion because of his cowardice. JOe Paterno's cowardice likely caused other young boys to be terrorized by this animal. Joe has blood on his hands and I don't give a shite about 400 wins. The man is a COWARD and a Farce trying to pass the buck.
Read this article--the case is plain.

YES. Because of his inaction and deliberate cover up several more children were harmed. He could have put a stop to it. He is the most powerful man at the university.
He clearly made his friend "retire" over earlier rapes but kept it quiet and made sure it got lost in the beauracratic chain. Its a farce. He's trying to make it sound like he told the higher ups and it was in their hands. BS. NOBODY is higher Up than Paterno in that entire university.

Joe is a football coach. He's not an administrator. It's not in his job description to perform a citizen's arrest on the guy. He did what is required of him.

Completely agree. Hearing that he will resign sometime this week.

That's the first I've read about the details of what Sandusky did. Let me see if I got this right:
He gives a kid a blowjob, admits to it and resigns a year later.
He still gets access to PSU facilities.
He molests a kid in the PSU showers.
JoPa tells "the authorities" and doesn't follow up. Do I have this right?
I'' curious why this is coming to light NOW?

Joe is a human who had knowledge of gross sexual assault on a minor in the football locker room. The fact that he didn't go to the police should (and is in some states) be criminal.

He is the most powerful human being working at Penn State University. What part of that don't you understand? He had prior knowledge of rape by his sick friend on his football facility grounds and did nothing but sweep it under the rug. What kind of seared conscience does Paterno have?
If I found out my friend did this to a kid I would personally drag his arse to the police station and sit there while he confessed and I would do everything in my power to ensure the longest sentence possible. Most honorable men would do the same.
Joe lacks honor, courage, and the common decency I would expect a real MAN and a real LEADER to have. HE IS A JOKE>

Buuuuut he followed the laws of his state to a T as far as I can tell and is not implicated in this. Not every 70 year old man would have the willpower to implicate a friend of 30+ years on second hand accounts.

Yet this same 70 year old man had the will power to allow his then 55 year old friend to quietly retire.

Well that's convenient for him, and absolves him of criminal proceedings, but if you are arguing that morally he is in the clear, I question your morals. He has to go, along with every member of the AD and Presidents office.

he made no effort to alert proper authorities and made no effort to follow up on the incident and that authorities were alerted. There’s no evidence he even confronted Sandusky about it. He washed his hands and walked away.
Jesus.....some sick bastards in this world. Anyone who thinks JoePa did the right thing should have their mental capacity checked.

I'm not arguing the morality of the situation. I'm not saying that he shouldn't have done more. I'm just saying he did what is legally required of him.

What does that have anything to do with him deserving to get canned?

I'm not one who thinks he should get canned after 60+ years of good he did when the bad he did is follow the legal system in place. The things he has done for the sport and the university far far far far outweigh this IMO.

If you knowingly harbor a criminal then you are an accessory to any future crimes he might commit.

He followed the legal system and the procedures in place. I'm not saying he didn't have a moral obligation beyond that, but I don't think he should get fired. I certainly see the other side of things, I don't know. The more I think about it maybe he should have.

Everyone including Spanier need to go.

I don't know what to say to this.
