If Stanford can still recruit well, there is no excuse for Georgia Tech to not be able to recruit well. The academic side can be relaxed if the alumni actually start to make some noise.

Stanford is a great school and is tough to get in but that is where the comparison to Tech ends. They are a private school and have a long list of liberal degrees where they can hide athletes, which Tech does not. Tech is also last in the ACC when it comes to football budget. Duke is ahead of us. We are trying to change but our last AD left us in a hole. This is a tough job.

I don't know how much time Georgia devotes to the triple option, but you know Kirby Smart is praying they ditch it.

Doubt it. He's beaten the piss out of them the last two years and triple option puts some level of additional ceiling on Tech's recruitment efforts.

Given how the Wreck has fallen off a cliff, I’m sure he was nudged into this in lieu of being fired.

Maybe they can hire his protege Ken Nimuatalolo from Navy if they insist on the triple option.

this isn't really true.

this is definitely true!

I think GT fans have just forgotten what it feels like to have a decent football team. Yall have settled for CPJ for far too long.

we had a couple of bad seasons here recently, but otherwise we aren't really any different than we were before. It's just that Georgia, Clemson, and Duke (of all teams) are much better than they were before. I guess if you aren't getting better then you are getting worse, but other than 2 seasons we've maintained about the same record under Johnson that we did under Gailey with more high points.

“Retirement”

It’s been rumored he was being forced out all year

Anyway, this is the perfect time for tech to be in this situation with UNC punting on a coaching search . Neal brown, Scott Satterfield or maybe Willie fritz should be on the short list

Yep, no SEC openings, no Big Ten or Big 12 openings other than Maryland and Texas Tech, and Louisville wasting their efforts on Brohm have us in a situation where, if we act quickly but smartly, we should be able to get the best guy who is looking to move up.

Would be wild watching him try to run his system with the players he'd have there at first

Why do y'all act like football players can't play different styles? There are no "flexbone" players only. Typically qb would be the only position that is inflexible in terms of transition from the option to another system.

It’s it a total sausage fest as well?

Massive sausage fest. The male to female ratio is absurd compared to a place like LSU
