Celtics and Red Sox
They became die hard Pats fans around 2000.

They probably rooted for Bledsoe, especially considering he was good enough to secure a then-record $100 million contract the offseason preceding the Mo Lewis injury, no joke there's a reason Bledsoe was drafted no. 1 overall 25 years ago and his first 8 seasons he justified the hype BIGLY.

Steve Grogan was one tough mofo. I actually liked the Patriots much more BEFORE Brady.

Lived in Mass as a young lad and very few people gave a turd about them. Celts/Sawks/Bruins ran the towns.

How long ago was that? It’s just funny because Pats made a SB in the 80s and 90s, just ran into the ‘85 Bears and Brett Favre. Boston always struck me as a hockey/baseball town because if none of their 4 teams were worth a shite they seem to naturally shift more to the Bruins and Sox despite them not winning shite for decades. Celtics were a dynasty so the city embraced them for that but Boston doesn’t strike me as a basketball city despite all that.

I have no issue with people who become fans of teams they have no affiliation to. Now, if you jump ship the second the pats start struggling, you kinda suck

Dads from the northeast area. adopted it from him but I'm not going to act like I even cared about football in the 3rd grade

All but one Patriots fan I have met in my life are under the age of 40 and are from the Southeast. I don't even bother discussing the Patriots' history before the year 2000 with them because I just assume they don't have a clue who played for them before then.

New England Bandwagon Nation
Article also goes on to say

However, it’s Knight’s history lessons of failed teams prior to the Boston/New England Patriots that provides the biggest indictment of Boston sports fans and their inability to remain loyal to their gridiron franchises.
Detailing the history of two of Boston’s previous endeavors — the Redskins and the Yanks — Knight explains their short-lived existences in Massachusetts. The Redskins found a new home in Washington, D.C., and the Yanks eventually became the Indianapolis Colts the NFL knows today.
The fact that both teams moved on to other states and became some of the NFL’s most storied franchises is proof-positive of every claim Knight makes about Boston’s football faithful. The only interest is in victory with no patience for building.
As if the loss of two franchises wasn’t enough, Knight also reminds readers of the constant threat of relocation New England faced all the way through the early 1990s. Bill Parcells' arrival was the only saving grace that prevented the Patriots from calling St. Louis home.

quote:
The one team Knight compares New England to is the Green Bay Packers—an unfair association to make by many standards, as most NFL teams could never boast the loyalty displayed by the Packers’ faithful.
