LSU is expanding right now. going from roughly 92k to 100k. It should be done by the first home game.
Yeah LSU's is one of the few I have actually heard about, a packed house in Death Valley once its done is going to be unreal.

true but we're pretty much at our saturation point. which is why we are adding suites and stadium club mostly, and only 1500 general admission. Just yesterday our AD mentioned down the road of possibly widening seats to reduce capacity.

We are doing massive renovations to Kyle. Expanding 102,500 while closing in the south EZ and completely redoing all the old shitty concourses and the outside appearance. Adding tons of premium seating also. It will be done by the beginning of 2015

while you are at it, you should try widening the numbers in your win column.

It will be great that one time every other year we play Bama at home.

You should have said "increase numbers" FWIW

Actually "expanding your numbers in the win column" would have been the best bet now that I think about it

I actually think that gif is hilarious
If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

Notre Dame has the coolest expansion/upgrade I've seen yet from all the schools that are doing it in the next 5 years.
Problem with OU's planned expansion...the stadium is still in Norman.

I have a hard time mustering any hate or ill will toward OU fans honestly

I had an Aggie tell me that once. He said "OU normally whips our arse, but at least when you do it you don't go all elitist like horns fans". I bought him a beer.

Pretty much the only thing Arkansas has going for it is the SEC logo on your field. Arkansas would kill to have the tradition OU does.

didn't it turn out this whole thing was made up by Blevins. Y'all just had a regent meeting and it wasn't brought up. Also, that story was comical with how the plan was to have 400m in updates done by 2015 season opener without having even a plan in place now.
The whole story seems absurd and now that we've moved past the regent meeting without actual discussion on even preliminary stuff, clearly false.

CBS wrote an article about it just 5 or 6 days ago. If work isn't starting until after the season anyway, they could be prepping a huge reveal to be done closer to football season. It may very well be false, but there is no reason to think they would have to release the news right now.

450M is nuts. Can't you build a whole new stadium for that cost?

I think it's interesting that so many colleges are investing heavily, especially with such popular support for paying the athletes. Case and point: in 2008, Oklahoma's athletic department made $77.09M, but they also spent $76.94M, leaving approximately $150K in profit.
That is a 0.02% margin my friends. You would need roughly 2,666 years to pay that back
Obviously there are things they can do to make it more profitable, but even if they brought in 10x the income, they would still need 266 years to pay it back.
If the current climate continues, it is obvious that the schools will have more expenses, not less. When that happens you can expect to see schools cut programs that are fed by the football and basketball programs.
At the same time, I believe you will start to see minor leagues sprout up that allow kids that don't want to go to school train to be professional athletes. Similar to the Junior A system in Canada for Hockey.
You'll see a drain on talent at the universities combined with rising costs. Not a good thing.
