He changed the game mainly in regards to diminishing the running back, more shotgun formations and the level of detail within role of the Quaterback.. The game has continued on this arc of complex formation, motion and personnel groupings all while decreasing the importantance of the running back..

Namath and Young say he changed the game and that Brady and Rodgers and others built off of what Manning started.

I guess I can see that point. There were a handful of other QBs that did that from time to time (Kelley, Moon jump to mind), but I would agree that none of the others made it a staple of their game like Manning.

Questions is, was it Manning that made it a strong part of his offense, or was it his OC (name alludes me, too lazy to google) that developed this niche offense and Manning stuck with it because it worked? Either way, I can definitely see how it helped mold the game and we'll have to see if the trend is going to continue to going to this style of offense bc there really are not a lot of teams that do this on a consistent basis.

Tom Moore and Peyton developed the offense together and honed it over the years. Moore began by giving Manning 3 plays to choose from at the line of scrimmage and eventually Manning basically got to the line and called whatever play he felt was best. When he got to the Broncos, they threw out the old playback and fully adopted the Manning playback, resulting in 37, 55, and 39 touchdowns the first 3 years. Kubiak came in and completely changed the offense to something Manning was very unfamiliar with and for which they did not have the personal. Manning probably has a decent 2015 (maybe 25 TD's and 12 interceptions, say) if they ran his old offense.
