wasnt directing that to you... but being asked is one thing.. being asked over and over after numerous links, quotes, screenshots describing it is another.

I swear I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Nearly everybody and their mother just keeps providing the same tautological argument.

I missed whatever thread that debate was on, I just wanted to share a nice tribute. I've learned there is no objectivity regarding Peyton. Everyone has made up their mind already and no amount of actual facts or testimonials is going to sway anyone either way. It's like trying to educate a creationist on why evolution is real. They won't believe a word you say. It's a pointless debate.

The screenshot you provided was just more conclusions. "He revolutionized the position..."

Pride's link provided some info but wasn't nearly as persuasive as initially thought.

Then you resorted to "just google it."

Sorry. We're dragging that debate into your thread.

I love Peyton. He's my favorite QB, even over Brees. I just wanted an explanation as to how he changed the position. All I got out of that thread was "he did this and he did that" when QBs had already been doing those things.

Hijack over.

Peyton is the shite.

Look, I hear you. I am normally like you. I hate hearing cliche' bullshite with no tangible proof. But there just seems like such an obvious shift in the game of football due to Peyton for me. I mean when I was growing up running backs were the premier players and franchise players. Now they are two bit whores and guys like Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan are getting paid out the arse. Something clearly changed, and I attribute that to Peyton

The 90s. The running back was THE position. It was the glam position. The position you wanted to be in back yard football etc etc(Thurman, emmitt, barry, then terrel.. ) The thought of paying the 10-12 best QB in the league a top contract would have been a joke at the time

Also I am admitting this is the view from my PERSPECTIVE. But it seems like alot of others share this viewpoint. TIFWIW

Barnwell on ESPN addressed this topic just this past weekend, btw. Here is article. You wanted facts and he does his best to provide them. Not trying to argue the points. Just sharing the information in case you had not seen it.

The article is titled "Peyton Manning's clear imprint on the NFL."

LINK

This summarizes the points he makes using data as best he can.

quote:

More than anything, if Manning does leave after Sunday, he'll have made his mark by the simple fact that the game itself looks and operates far more like Peyton Manning playing quarterback than it did before he arrived. The act of how the sport is played in the National Football League is fundamentally different today from the way it was in 1998. Our baselines for success and expectations of how teams will play are informed differently. And in many ways, those changes mirror the style of Peyton Manning and the teams on which he played.

Yes, Tom Brady did change the game. We no longer have the "tuck rule".

In fairness, thanks to Peyton Manning, Bill Polian made sure that DBs were handcuffed more than ever so he definitely changed the game, too.

That was done for decades, most of the QBs from the 70s & earlier called a lot of their own plays.

Even Terry Bradshaw...........
