This biggest difference to this team vs the ones that got beat by Auburn and LSU is that now their lines are SIGNIFICANTLY larger and more talented. Whereas those teams were a bunch of 2 and 3 star recruits overachieving this team is a bunch of 4 star guys who could play at any SEC program. Add that to the conditioning program they have and great coaching and this is a total different animal.

I also don't understand how people can say they don't know how to close out teams in close games. What exactly can you base that on? Looks like they closed out close games in WSU and Michigan State just this year. If you're gonna use teams from 3-4 years in the past to make a judgement about this year's Oregon team, you're an idiot and lack the ability to objectively watch football

It helps that they jump out to an early lead, and the it's obvious that the defense is going for the TD. Even moreso, most teams are predictably going to pass, thereby making it very easy to defend. That was a great stop on Winston, and the game may have ended differently. If the OSU game is closer, or if OSU is ahead and in the redzone, it will be much more difficult for Oregon to defend, and OSU will more than likely score. Running being an option makes it much more difficult to defend (defense really isn't allowed, anyway).

You're asking for too much; most people need things spelled out for them. You should never make people read between the lines, either; it never ends well. I made a joke in another thread saying that I walked on for a non-existent football program and saw harder hits than the ones I see in football today (this was a criticism of how defenses are handcuffed nowadays). I don't think anyone got it, although one person pointed out that the program didn't exist (Stetson, "a decade ago", although I did attend Stetson and am a Hatter!!!).

They have had many good defenses. The numbers don't always show that because of the amount of time spent on the field, if you dig deeper you find out they aren't bad.

Completely agree. I would say the Baylor defense has improved this season but since they are on the field so much the statistics do no show it. It's one downside to HUNH offenses.

I agree, but "good defenses" are giving up 30+ points in multiple games this year. Baylor gave up 40+ in at least three games this year, and they have an above average defense. TCU who may have the best "D" in the Big XII gave up 61 to Baylor, and 30+ four different times. Ole Miss gave up 30 to Arkansas, and were number one in scoring defense. I hate the way the game is played now; offenses have such an advantage. I get bored watching 52-35 games.

It also helps having two 1/2 round NFL 290 DEs and an army All American at NT at 315. Oregon used their size at the down linemen spots to keep blockers off the back 7 and played a soft zone to keep things in front of them. Winston and that Oline are lethal if they want to be. I had never seen a team better in pass pro than FSU with Irving at center. tOSU will be a challenge but that is not how we will attack them.

The cards just fell right for them this time.

They are very good but not exactly better than years past

This. Met a FSU team which should have lost at least 2 or 3 games.

I don't see much difference & feel they will probably lose next Monday.

We will see how they run between the tackles vs Ohio State.

If our front four can control the LOS, Oregon will be in trouble.

I love our chances.

No front four has controlled the LOS against us. Bosa, Bennett and Washington are great but FSU Goldman and Edwards were no where to be seen.

Goldman and Edwards have underachieved this year, and everyone will admit that

OSU needs to not get down early, and needs to pound the ball. Of course you're going to tell me OSU won't be able to do that because Oregon has great defensive linemen. Then I'm going to laugh at you because Bama has a way better defense and OSU ran all over them

I think tOSU gets yards. I am not going to say that they won't. They score on everyone. I do think the difference will be at QB. Jones will do some good things but will make mistakes that Mariota won't.

He didn't make one mistake yesterday other than a bobbled snap. His INT was on the WR and his route.

And Alabama has a much better defense than Oregon's.

If anything, this game vs Bama showed Ohio State how damn physical they can be.

Be ready. It's gonna be a hard hitting defense flying at you. If we live in your back field, no hurry up is gonna help you out.

Did you watch the Ohio State game?

Ohio State out physicaled Alabama on both sides of the line.

And stayed with them hit for hit. That's the hardest hitting Ohio State game I've seen in a long while.

Ohio State is going to bring the swag to Dallas. I just want to prepare you.

It's gonna be a great game. Tell Marcus to tighten his chin strap up real tight, yah hear?

I was hoping that since we weren't playing a team from the south that we could stop with the bullshite talk. This is the hardest hitting OSU football game you've seen in a while? Strap on your chin strap too?

I am sure Mariota is shaking in his boots. Haven't seen anything like it all year.

All Florida teams under Meyer were dominant and physical, especially in the secondary and almost as much on the D-line, if I recall correctly.

Oregon has historically struggled with physical teams, you can't deny that. Ohio State 2009 being one of those teams.

Florida State has been soft on defense all year.

If Ohio State controls the line on defense with 4 guys like they have the past two games against two stout teams, then Oregon will be in trouble.

I really like the fake bubble screen with the fly route. That's a nifty play.

You want to downplay FSU now - fine. However, let's not make Bama out to be something more than it was. That defense has been burned more than once.

I respect the hell out of tOSU but get the hell out with that shite.

They were awful this year and easily could have been 9-3. This isn't anything new.

I'm not talking about the deep throws and long runs. I'm talking about the trenches.

What shite exactly? You can't deny the fact that Oregon has been struggled against more physical teams. It's gonna be a great game.
