They play games other than WFOSU/Michigan… it’s the NIL era, do recruits even need to go to campus anymore?

I guess they don't but it's still a hit that OSU doesn't need to deal with more often than the other teams in the conference. In theory relationships still matter some but in the last 5 years that has admittedly diminished.

The problem really is that OSU plays their biggest games every year at noon, which are the games recruits want to come in for. Recruits don't really care about OSU/Rutgers, and would much rather come to OSU/PSU or OSU/Texas, but both those games (against preseason 1/2) will more than likely be at noon.

I am well aware that is the agreement the conference made and OSU is part of that conference, but they are only the flagbearer because they are really good annually, and this is hurting those chances of that continuing into the future

Now that cable is dead, it’s all about national brand and not tv markets

I legitimately don’t know the answer, I am asking - is this accurate? How has streaming killed the tv market model? Aren’t these TV networks still signing their deals with the conferences and not the schools? Didn’t Texas gave up on the longhorn network to join the SEC?

Don't care anymore. If I am going to watch pro sports I'll watch the highest level of pro sports, the NFL.

Exactly how I feel at this point. I like watching lsu with my kids but it’s hard to get invested in players and recruiting at this point.

Big mistake. What makes the SEC and Big Ten the two best conferences is the equal partnership and sharing of revenue between schools equally when they are full members. Everyone needs to be opposed to any discussion of Texas or Florida saying they deserve more revenue than Mississippi State and South Carolina or Arkansas.

Sounds like tOSU is about to tell all the other Big 10 schools to eat shite and pay them more or risk getting left out in the cold completely.

This is what Texas was doing in the Big 12. Schools like Nebraska cried about it for years before leaving.

Eh, the Big 12 would have lost Texas and OU more than a decade earlier than they did if they had equal revenue sharing.

If a big school AD doesnt advocate for what his school deserves he shouldn’t have a job

During the Archer-Hallman-Dinardo days LSU would have gotten less than Florida if revenue was not shared equally and based on market or brand or tv ratings.

Conferences have lost all meaning.

Much like teams are now just a collection of individual mercenary players, conferences are just collections of individual mercenary schools.

It hit its tribal apex between 2000-2010 , fans across the Internet arguing incessantly which Conference was better, overrated, media bias, strength of schedule, etc. Especially the vitriol between the PAC and SEC and Big12 when USC and Oklahoma were riding high.

And the arguments were still closely argued in a regional stance, base and bias...now,, the players have all the same feeling and motive, highest bidder, instead of being traded like the NFL, they trade themselves... There are no Conferences anymore really, traditionally, where geography once meant culture.

LSU would probably always get less than Florida based on the markets…

Be nice if errbody just calmed down a bit and just let things settle for a few years, or even just a couple.

But I guess that's foolish thinking.

I don't think Ohio State is significantly pushing unequal revenue sharing, but it's definitely a bargaining chip to use in the next round of TV negotiations. The issue right now as previously mentioned is all big Ohio State games are at noon.

A lot of people have predicted it, but I wonder how soon teams start to get voted OUT of conferences.
Ive been saying for a while that Purdue, Northwestern, Wake Forest, and Vanderbilts days are numbered in their conferences. Being competitive in one non-fb sport for one year per decade isn't going to keep the money hungry people at the top of the conferences happy anymore.

There have to be teams for the powerhouses to beat… otherwise too many will have a bunch of losses
