**Official U.S.Open Thread (Return to Pinehurst #2)**
Just finished sprigging. Whats going on? Someone give me a run down from this morning please.
waste areas haven't caused much of a problem for anyone, so far as getting a clean hit ...
hard greens that don't also reward good shots ... snedeker had a very up and down round ... then up again ... then down ... phil had some birdies and bogies ... the english amateur played well early but faded a bit late ...
think they said the course was watered a bit last night and will be again tonight ...
typical first round at a us open ...

snedeker got to -4 before bogey/double/bogey, but then birdied a few holes ...

Fowler was steady and could easily be in the lead but missed a lot of puts.
I think he might have a chance if he remains level headed and doesn't have any Sergio moments

Hopefully he keeps it up the next three days
I've always liked to see him win a major

I'm not gonna start a separate thread to ask this question as I'm sure it has been asked and answered repeatedly but here it goes: why do we get wall to wall coverage of the US open and not the other majors? I could see maybe not doing it for the PGA/British but for the Masters it has to make sense. I know Augusta themselves have some effect on it

he has the same trainer as Fatrick

Augusta doesnt want all the coverage. Want to keep so allure to the place
Posted on 6/12/14 at 1:38 pm to BeaverPRO
Why would they want their tournament to get LESS TV exposure? I am trying to figure out why they would oppose it
I'm biased but that's just dumb

Because they don't need any more exposure. It's part of the mystique. And, they don't need the money.

You say that but it makes people tune in and pay more attention when they are watching and makes them want to go see the place so bad.
If you got to watch all day it wouldnt be as special. They only do like 2 commercials and hour anyway so its not like they care about the advertising money
