Let us all remember that Federer predicted this. Federer...greatest tennis player ever AND a prophet.

So come January and the Aussie Open where are Fed/Novak/Nadal/Murray ranked?

After this tourney I'm pretty sure that it'll be:

1 - Fed
2 - Novak
3 - Murray
4 - Nadal

The #1 ranking will come down to who performs better from here through the end of the year, as Fed and Novak are extremely close in YTD points. Fed has a lot of points to defend too, so Novak will probably take the #1 ranking.

Murray jumps over Nadal with this win

Yeah I knew what the 4/3 would be, thanks for the info on the Fed/Novak situation.

So it would be best for Fed to play in a bunch of tourneys then to earn more points and get the #1 or does he try and avoid drawing Nadal in the semis?

So does this take Murray to the next level heading into the Grand Slams next year? Does he win at least 1 GS next season, maybe even 2 or 3?

I think he has the same graph as Roddick and stays at 1 GS. I don't see him winning another one.

I think he'll win a Wimbledon at some point. He's better than Novak on grass, and with Nadal's injuries and Fed's age it seems like he'll get one at some point

I'm a casual tennis fan, but one who's been around long enough to have watched Connors, McEnroe, Borg, & Lendl in their primes.

This finals match between Murray & Djokovic might be the best finals match I've seen. Congrats to Murray on his first major win.

The Fed-Roddick match was entertaining but I don't remember it being nearly as good of a match from a quality of tennis standpoint.

The Fed-Nadal Final can't be touched.

The Fed-Safin Aussie epic is maybe the highest quality tennis I've ever watched.

Awesome. Very strange the way it played out. Can't believe Nole ran out of gas after going beastmode in the middle of the match.

Last winning shot was hit in near darkness.

Federer beat Roddick in 2009

Glad he won it. He tried to give it away.

He more than likely wont win another one... Glad he took advantage of it

When he lost to Roger at Wimbledon, i thought that may have been his best chance. I dont see Andy playing for ever either. I dont think he loves it like some of the other guys. The press just beats his arse up too much

Congrats to him

Last set was entertaining by itself with Roddick having multiple chances of breaking Fed's serve.

Fed eventually won it 16-14

Thanks.

I do remember (barely ) the Nadal - Federer match in 2008. One indeed for the ages.

Yea I remember it being suspenseful as hell but not a good match quality wise. Both guys had tons of errors and it seemed half the points were won on aces. Not that that's bad tennis in and of itself but there wasn't the brilliant shotmaking and incredible points of some of the truly great matches.

It was excellent. I loved the Aussie Open final, and of course '08 Wimby was ridiculous, but this is in that category.
