Good analysis.

I'm pulling so hard for Djokovic to win this thing. If Nadal wins I might have to begrudgingly start giving him some GOAT cred

Doesn't the difference between 12 and 13 seem a lot bigger than the difference between 10 and 11 or 11 and 12??

And the above is not written sarcastically. While I certainly cannot condone TTF's anti-Nadalism, I think the general point about Rafa gaining substantial market share in the GOAT debate if he wins this tournament is true. If 13 had a ring to it, it would be called Historical Eliticity,* would be written in the key of C major, and composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Or JSB, as his bros referred to him.

*Eliticity is not a word, but should be.

Beating post-ascension Novak in the final of the fastest of the hard court slams would be bigger than the number IMHO. Given his other accomplishments it'd be hard not to at least admit that he's played himself into a real debate

Shiyyettt. That's like a three quarter run on the treadmill at 6.5mph for that guy.

Both Djoker and Nadal have quite obviously put a great deal of emphasis on conserving energy in all their matches. Nadal mentioned after the Kohlshcreiber match that it wasn't good that it went four sets, becuase in these conditions it could wear him down.

bullshite. When they get in the finals, those guys will run from ad doubles alley to deuce doubles alley and back for 7 hours straight if need be.

I think the concern previously was that Nadal would stroll into the final while Novak/Murray had the potential to be all an out 5 set battle of attrition, giving Nadal an advantage in the final. Now they'll probably be coming in on similar situations

Thanks for explaining it to barry. He seems upset

Well-said.

If he beats this Djokovic I'd put it up there against any win outside of his Wimbledon epic that finally topped Fed.

FWIW I'm pulling for him like nobody else, but I see Djok in 4.

Not me! I wanted to see Murray vs Djoker. Still think Djok would have made it to the finals, but wanted to see this match up. (the shots of Murray's GF between each set don't hurt for TV either)

Well that doesn't look likely. Takes the first set 6-0.

Call me crazy (really, go ahead), but I'm thinking Stan takes the Joker to a 5-setter tomorrow. He may not win, but I think he'll give Novak the toughest match he's had in a long while.

Stan's got that IDGAF stare this tourney.

Ugh, what a boring final if Stan wins. The stars would have aligned for Nadal too. THis would be the easiest path to a slam win that I can remember, at least in this era. Not having to play a single player ranked higher than 8th and none of the guys who match up well with him. Lucky, lucky
