Anow everyone gets silva down according to choke. Isn't his take down defense hovering around 80%? One person has done damage on him while on ground and that was sonnen. Silva was lucky in first fight tht sonnen gets sloppy on ground.
Silva blocks a takedown in round 2 when weidman and corner was focused on knocking him out for the taunting and now weidman will never ever hurt silva on ground.

I don't understand how neutral observers don't see silva was on panic mode about going back to ground and wanted the fight on feet so he taunted to have it happen.

Even better posters on mma like you choke are having trouble digesting he lost to someone who has his number.

Said it earlier...there's a reason so many fighters picked weidman. There's a reason silva fans who were I er at my house even thought weidman was going to win.
It doesn't take away that silva is a top 3 fighter of all time. Admitting he got handled last night and tried to reach into his bag of tricks doesn't mean silva now sucks.

I can't Billieve the fanboys can't see he got beat not that he lost

seeing a guy as cocky and confident as silva, AFTER getting on his feet after being on the ground, is the opposite of what i'd call panic mode

how many of those people expected a 2nd round KO after silva let Weidman hit him in the face multiple times prior?

because if they didn't call the fight ending that way, i don't really think i'm going to give them a lot of credit

NOBODY expected that last night

how did he get handled?

even when weidman had him on the ground, weidman didn't do shite, damage-wise AND lost his position

he didn't do anything of note until the KO blow

where was this handling?

Cocky and fake confidence. Some people now up hoping to intimidate the stronger person. Silva knew his only chance was a counter and he wanted weidman to over swing and then ko.in sports loudest talkers sometimes are most Scared.

It doesn't matter how the fight ended. I agree no one expected panic mode silva but it happens. If I predict patriots win Super Bowl but don't say by fg kick it still counts.

Damn Jakey u are hurt over this loss. Us still eat dude just weidman would win again in a rematch. Matchups

He lost position by work.

Sonnen got up twice on jones but he was being handled the whole round and jones wasn't hurting him till end either. Ad I love sonnen and could see that.nothing of note happen to end of round

i'd agree if i hadn't seen silva do the same shite before (just at a lesser intensity)

Silva knew his only chance was a counter

i don't think that was his ONLY chance, but it was his best strategic shot, b/c that's what he does

It doesn't matter how the fight ended.

it does when the fight has so many outlier events

quote:

I agree no one expected panic mode silva

he didn't panic, though. you're just making shite up. i'm trying to figure out why

huh? i'm not invested in silva. i don't follow MMA for the most part now. i have no favorites (well, other than cheik kongo)

He did it in fights he dominated before and knew he could get slower people to take chances and leave them self open. Wen weidma was able to take him down something he isn't use to he tried to go back to that bag of tricks because he didn't have other options at we're viable unless he wanted to spend fight on his back.

Going into fight I was holing for silva. I loved at way he loss by being cocky but don't act like I'm a silva hater making shite up

but at that point he had already gotten off his back after weidman didn't do shite while on top

that's not panicking. he didn't even have to take a breather at the break and barely needed water. go back and watch. it looked like he possibly hadn't even broken a sweat

there were no signs of panic whatsoever. there were plenty of signs that he was doing what he's done in his fights for like 4 years, though.

He has never went to cocky bag of tricks when put down in a fight. It's always been when he was clearly better fighter.

You can panic without needing water......not sure what that has to deal with.

If you don't want to say panic you can say desperate. He went to that taunting to make it a stand up fight for a reason. He knew if he was taken down while fresh he could be taken down easier in later rounds. He may get up and avoid I juries while fresh but when tired he would have been stuck catching pu ishment

well silva was just being silva...at an amplified level. he went way past anything other than outright taunting in round 2. for better or worse (well, it was worse), he just completely disrespected weidman

i mean he pulled a move from rocky 4 when he told weidman to hit him in the face, and weidman did. that's confidence on the brink of irrationality. that is not indicative of panic at all, regardless of how you interpret his antics

quote:

He went to that taunting to make it a stand up fight for a reason.

and after the end of round 1, it was smart. then he just went into overdrive mode, and was punished

end of story. he fricked up by being too cocky and/or disrespectful, and weidman won. silva went full retard and lost the fight

hell, silva wasn't even really trying to counter. he just looked like he was showign weidman up

it doesn't take an elite fighter to hit a guy with his arms down who is leaning into punches (and allowing you to hit him in his face, literally). and the aspect of fighting that weidman IS elite in, was ineffective in round 1

Possibly, but unfortunately the way the fight ended still leaves uncertainty.

for the record i'm not having trouble "digesting" the loss, either. silva lost. he's not the champ. shite happens

matt serra beat GSP (without the outlier shite) straight up, too. i didn't question my reality when that happened, either

You are not the only one. He didn't give a shite about that fight last night. He really didn't care at all.

I really hope they rematch now so the Silva fanboys will see him lose even worse in a rematch. Silva probably wouldn't go into desperation mode and clown in a rematch and it would probably mean he gets pounded out in 3 rounds. My expectation last night was a stoppage in round 3 due to GnP or a submission of a beaten down Silva. That would also be my rematch prediction.

Unfortunately it won't happen. Even though the UFC will pressure him and it would be the biggest payday of his career, Silva knows he doesn't have much of a chance to win and I doubt he needs the money.

I just don't see him beating Silva in a rematch. Am I a fan boy? Sure I am. The man is amazing and that loss only convinces me that Silva is a moron.
