Bump

First game I got to this season is a 10-0 Chalmette win over St Aug in the first game of the WGNO Classic… we have a young team of sophomores and juniors but most have varsity experience. They hit tonight like they’ve been in the weight room all off-season. We’re expecting Cole Armstrong and Evan Jacob to lead us at the plate.

Our sophomore pitcher Cameron Tipton made St Aug’s Tulane commit look silly at the plate. We’re back in action against Jesuit tomorrow and Newman Saturday

One thing that will be interesting is the playoff race in nonselect Division 1…

Chalmette will watch it from afar since our district basically guarantees we’ll run rule it and take up one of the 24 spots in the playoffs…

leaving 23, 3 more that will probably be taken up by Neville, South Lafourche, and South Terrebonne, who go for basically 5A playoff spots in 4A districts, and were among the best in 4A the last two years (for some reason the 4A Bayou district is a baseball super district and the 5A bayou schools are as bad as it gets)

In the last 2 years in 5A nonselect, 14 teams have a top 10 seed or made the quarterfinals in one of the last two years: Barbe, Benton, Central, Dutchtown, Haughton, Live Oak, New Iberia, Ruston, Sam Houston, St Amant, Sulphur, Walker, West Monroe, Zachary. The rest of the division goes for 6 playoff spots, 7 if New Iberia doesn’t make it

Teams not mentioned that have earned a home game or won a playoff game in one of the last two years: Airline, Destrehan, East Ascension, Ouachita, Parkway, Ponchatoula, Southside, West Ouachita (Ouachita is least likely to make it)

If you weren’t mentioned you’re probably screwed

Question: is Centanni for Rummel committed anywhere? I know they got Ryan and Arencibia for LSU and Tulane respectively

We beat them last year but I think they’ll get us tonight

EDIT- Rummel wins 12-1. We got John Curtis tomorrow morning but we have our ace going

In a rematch of the 5A championship last year, no comeback was needed this time by WM. 12-1 WM over St Amant. The semi final rematch is tomorrow at 10am between Dutchtown and WM. Then WM plays Hahnville later on.

WM was up 13-3, all of a sudden it’s 13-10 with a runner at 3rd on 3 hits. Blue has been a big factor for most of the runs scored for both teams. After 4, 13-10 WM.

More blown calls by home plate ump. Geez it’s an epidemic it seems. WM hits a ball to third, not even close, clearly fair as 3B catches it standing flat footed…foul. Would have ended the inning, next pitch a foot off the plate…strike 2…Blue is really struggling badly. And it’s both ways. A lot of calls going WM’s way and Rick/Shake are calling it out. Blue is just clueless.

13-10 mid 5.

CHS run ruled them tonight... dude must not have thrown and we pitched our ace

We’re about halfway through the season now… if it ended today, notably, Zachary or Benton wouldn’t be in the state playoffs

Pineville beat WM tonight 7-4 at Pineville. Big win for Cullen Guerrerio the WM native, son of Neville HC Paul. They’ll play at WM Saturday.

Also Barbe beat Sam Houston 4-1. Huge game.
