A couple teams could get screwed out of playing - quirk in the rules - could be interesting - and shame if not decided on the field

That's why OCS played Catholic NI at LA Tech. All turf field. Otherwise they would've played 1 game on Monday, no series.

Those turf fields at Tech, softball and baseball have saved many games this year. It's been a blessing. So glad the tax passed here for a 15million dollar all turf sports complex for soccer, football, baseball and softball. I have a feeling lots of games for a variety of sports will be played in Ruston soon.

Absolutely agree. Especially the way the rules are "written", the home team has the final say if the field is playable, not the umpires or LHSAA. In addition, alternate sites are not required. So, if the home team wins the first game, there is no incentive to play the second game by Monday given the amount of rain that has fallen this weekend. The home team walks away with the "series" and saves their pitching to prepare for the next round.

the format does need to be fine-tuned... this ain't football or basketball where BAM you're done in one night and can play in any weather.

Now i see why every other sport gives road teams the chance to host if they win. we could have had two straight NOLA to Shreveport trips if we had won this weekend, when the simple fact is, they need to be avoided at all costs when they're simply not needed. Gas and hotels are expensive. This ain't the pros. We can build a playoff system where NOLA and North Louisiana don't meet until the end, at a central playoff site. Lafayette if they upgrade Cajun Field, should become the home for all the major sports in a perfect world.

A lot of teams are about to get screwed. LHSAA sent out a letter that if only one game has been played, the team that won the first game will advance. That sucks

Airline swinging the bats well, and didn't even have to use their #1 today so he'll be as fresh as can be for game 1 in the quarters.

Airline's pitching has been lights out all year. Their #1, the lefty Backofen has been pitching for em since his freshman year. Their 2 and 3 starters are very good too.

Alexandria would be best IMO. Plus Cenla is the least likely of all regions to actually make it. So no worries about HFA.

no football stadium there though

heck Cajun Field is barely big enough, and the one side with the upper deck and the other side isn't a good stadium for a state championship, but it will have to do

Ahhhh thought we were talking just baseball. Dome is just too special IMO. I was fortunate enough to play in there twice and it's something you never forget. ULL...not so much.

Playing in a packed stadium like ULL is far more memorable than a 3/4 empty Superdome. I've coached, played in, & attended games in both locations (HS & multiple competition levels). Packed house atmosphere is ALWAYS better, across the board.

Acadiana vs. Lafayette Game 3 reschedule for 3:30pm Monday @ ULL's Tigue Moore Field.

That was the first thing I said when the 2/3 format came into play.
One year you are going to have significant rain issues and with high school calendar it's going to be hard to get all these games in.

I think the answer is actual 4-team, double elimination regionals over two weeks. As in actual regionals so that teams close by face off.

Eight 4-team regionals lead to two more 4-team (super) regionals. The last two standing play best-of-three for the title.

Each week, start the regionals with two games Thursday afternoon/evening. Two more on Friday afternoon/evening and you're down to three teams. Saturday gives you an elimination game with the winner to face the 2-0 team once or twice. Play Sunday or even Monday if you must due to weather until there's a winner.

If a neutral LHSAA rep is at each site and makes the decisions of when games will be played, there are no shenanigans.
