Really a sad indictment on our culture to think people will try to totally tear a guy down because of a sporting event.

Flip-flop them but I agree. Those were phenomenal docs.
This was good. It had more psychology to cover.
Guru of Go was the most emotional along with the Canadian one.

I think The U was pure crap and most only like it because it was DA U

I almost wanted to cry in the first hour. It was all about that game 6. I still remember watching it in disbelief.
Honestly, I'm still a fan, but I've never really recovered.

The Best That Never Was is the best documentary that I've ever seen, much less 30 for.30. I don't see any new ones living up to that. The Canadian runner and the one about TIM Richmond were both good along with the other obvious favorites.

Is Bartman going to be interviewed/on tonight?

i agree, though it's not my favorite doc ever, it's basically exactly what a documentary should be

The Best that Never Was was also my favorite. I grew up around Philadelphia, MS and though I was in high school at the time, I can remember pops taking me to go see Marcus Dupree play. Kinda cool reliving that.

Once Brothers - Most suprised how amazing it was
The two escobars - one of the best
The Best that never was - these stories are why we love sports
Winning Time - When the NBA was at it's best
The Pony Excess - WOW
The U - I couldn't believe the shite they were doing. HA
Without Bias - Did not even know about this
I thought it was alright tonight. If they would have gotten Bartman is would have been awesome. I believe his emotion and story would have been something special.

Me too alajones. I have no hate for Bartman but that play definitely was a catalyst for the disaster that ensued IMHO.
Now if that other cocky phuck that went for the ball had deflected it I would have had alot less trouble hating on him.

Alou has always been a douche. I don't remember this happening because I was pretty young, but apparently whenever Lance Berkman was a rookie while Alou was still in Houston, he got thrown out in a rundown trying to squeeze out an extra base off of an Alou hit. Alou then proceeded to cuss him out and berate him in the base path in between innings. Pretty funny especially now because he couldn't hold Berkman's jock career-wise. Plus I also remember him being a dick and not signing a single autograph for fans when I was a kid trying to get my glove signed outside the Astrodome.

You cubs fans read too much into that shite. The Cubs fricking choked, and if they let that kind of play be part of the reason, then they sure as hell didn't deserve to go to the World Series.

As bad as those 2 nights in October, 2003 were, I took 2008 much harder. As much as the World Series was in their hands, the Cubs were a Cinderella of sorts in 2003. In 2008, they were hands down the best team in the NL and choked it away again. I'm still not over that.

I definitely remember thinking this watching the game. I was ready to celebrate that night like I had never celebrated before (LSU hadn't won a national title as of yet). My neighbors would've thought I was insane. When Alou didn't catch that ball, something inside me told me that it wasn't going to happen. Even though the Cubs had a 3-0 lead still at the time. Then when Gonzales botched the sure DP, I wanted to cry. I knew they wouldn't win game 7 either.

You may be right ac. It's like a relationship you're in that everyone can see you're being shite on but you.
But I do also think there's something to an environment that can trigger things that would not occur elsewhere, both good and bad. And I think that's what happened in Wrigleyville that night.

No doubt. The play really didn't have anything to do with it. Just like the Billy Goat didn't make the Cubs lose in 1945, and the black cat didn't make them lose in 1969, Bartman didn't make them lose in 2003. It's just amazing that one team can have so many stories like this. It would be one thing if they just lost, but they invent new ways to lose.

I knew it too Med. Hell, Alou said he and Ramirez bought plane tickets home after game 6

I felt the same way. The Cubs were so tight you could tell by there body language from jump they weren't going to compete. It was painful to watch.

And this goes back to the culture in Wrigleyville. The whole atmosphere was uptight the first night of the 2008 playoffs. Fans were just waiting for something to go wrong. Hell, the freaking idiot team President sprinkled holy water on the dug out before the game trying to rid the place of the curses.
The mindset is so bad there that I'll be surprised if the Cubs ever win the World Series. They'll have to be far and away the best team in baseball to overcome the mental obstacles that are in place there right now.
