Being a 24 fan I still tried hard to like the guy, but after the spin at Richmond last year, I was done, he's no better than that "dipshit" he drives for.

Clint Bowyer is the type of driver that NASCAR fans always say is missing from the sport, and then they find reasons to hate him.

Would you prefer another corporate puppet or a driver who was born with a silver spoon in their mouth on the track?

He had his car righted, and was going straight down the shoulder and then spun it out. He did it because he didn't want to lose laps by pitting under the green. That's the only way he could save "his good run". But yeah we're the "dipshits".

Once again Jeff's pit crew screwed him on the last pit stop. came in first, left out ninth.

This.

Like jorconal said, I didn't have a problem with him until Richmond. But that, and now this--you're telling me you knew you were on old tires and couldn't drive in a non-reckless way to save it, and then couldn't keep yourself from spinning all by your lonesome on the fricking shoulder? Sorry, not buying that, Clint. GFY/DIAF

Well iirc, it was a 12 second stop. One guy stayed out and the first six or so cars that pitted only took two tires. Gordon took four.

And I'm with you on his pit crew. Those SOB frick up at least one pit stop every week.

Not only what you said, but he almost fricked Gordon out of the chase last year. I can see going for the win and dive bombing the corner (plus Newman rammed him in further), but screwing someone out of a chase spot is low down dirty.

It's unbelievable. I miss the Rainbow Warriors days Zero confidence in retaining position on pit road these days, much less gaining, tbh.

And yeah with regards to Clint, I ranged from neutral on him to liking the guy before last year, but frick him--he's shady. Lost a ton of respect for him

Not sure it would have mattered how well his pit crew would have done. It wasn't their fault. No way were they beating the cars that just took two tires out of the pits, so Jeff was gonna have to deal with traffic on that restart. He didn't pass anyone on that GWC, so something happened to his car.

Not sure I wouldn't have stayed out. Hell, he came in 13th so he might have been better off for two laps.

Two tires was absolutely the correct call--I honestly don't know why Gustafson went with 4 unless he was thinking it might help Gordon on the restart.

The 24 was best on the longer runs (again, frick Clint Bowyer), but woefully average on the short ones. He got flat blown away on that last restart, though, which hadn't happened all day, so I'm with you in thinking something else was amiss with his car.

Damn I wanted that win, but oh well, on to the next track

I'm still somewhat happy with the way he's running so far. I've seen him start off worse.

Texas will tell us where he is. He always manages to finish 20th there.

The first 10 races of 2007 went pretty good. Think he finished second in M'ville to Jimmie, won in Arizona, won Talladega. Top-5 at Bristol too IIRC.

Gordon was insane in 07. Would have won the title going away under the old points system.

Johnson just blew the doors off everyone in the Chase

Think Gordon had an average finish of 5 in that Chase and still lost.

He also had that race in the 600 where he started 40th and was wrecked by Tony fricking Raines running 6th after 35 laps.

Hopefully he's got that car this year
