What will the world golf rankings look like now?

The article on ESPN.com says Tiger will stay at No. 4. However, he's now atop both the FedEx Cup points standings and the PGA Tour money list.

You've obviously never played a seaside links style course. Who needs trees and water hazards when you have wind, swales and pot bunkers? Very interesting golf. You should try it.

WTH...arguably the best tournament, with by far the richest history, on some of the absolute best courses in the world is what you meant, right!

The courses are historical, but they aren't even close to being the best in the world. The Open Championship has its place in golf lore, but it's just not something I get real excited about. Hell, some pros who are qualified to compete skip the event. I just don't buy the "Champion golfer of the year" is the winner of the only event played on a links course. Now that the US Open has qualifying available in Europe and Asia, its winner has replaced the British Open winner as the "champion golfer of the year" in my opinion.

Yes, if he ever gets his driver consistently going it is over.

Why do people keep saying this? He's hitting it better than he has in years, and the stats show that

Go play the old course, the other courses at St Andrews, the Torrence course, etc and you will perhaps modify your opinion of how good they are...they are historic, but also great. The weather conditions vary, the courses have character and uniqueness. The most fun I have had playing golf was during 7 rounds in Scotland last May...the wind, it even rained some. We also played until 10 pm. I agree with your other comments though.

The links courses bring so many more shots into play...knockdowns, compensations for wind, long bump and runs. It is boring seeing golf on some of the pristine American courses, where lies are perfect, grass uniform and the balls land on the green, hop and check.

I enjoy your posts, but here, you are wrong, wrong. Some of the best courses in the world are in the UK. The Torrance and Kittocks courses are tremendous...no part of them is terrible. They are gems!

Congrats, Tiger. And well done hosting this tourney.

I second this. While watching yesterday I noticed just one golfer remove his hat and shake the hand of every military personnel that was there working the tournament, and that golfer was Tiger Woods. I know due to his father's military background that he has a ton of respect for them, but that was a very classy move

Nice win for him regardless of what the field did. Like someone said earlier, it's just like a few years ago when his name would creep up the leaderboard, all others seemed to fall by the wayside.

This may be true. But they don't play the British Open on these courses. Maybe if they did, I'd change my tune about it. But the greens at Lytham in 3 weeks are going to be bumpy and slow. I agree with you about the weather conditions and different shots required. It's just hard to relate for most fans because no one plays like that anymore. It's much easier to appreciate a Tour player hitting it stiff from 175 with a 7 iron to a tucked pin than it is to appreciate a punch 4 iron from 150 into a 40 mph wind.
