Just because the Top 5 QB's get that doesn't mean the rest of the QB's in the league get that, in fact the difference should be increasing as the rate goes up. Guy has averaged 3000 yards a season in 4 years.

yes. as the cap rises QB prices will rise.

That doesn't mean it's a smart thing to do. Over the last 10-12 years, paying above average QBs elite QB money is the one thing that guarantees teams no chance to win a Super Bowl. You need an elite QB or a cheap QB. Jones is neither.

Holy smokes... he's getting Steph Curry money without the Steph Curry accolades. Got it.

Joe Burrow is going to get $50 mill per season.... or more.

This is what happens when you have an OK QB. You either have to pay him or let him walk.

Right in line with all the OTHER insane deals for all NFL starting QBs (who can follow weekly scripts and direction well.)

The terrible Vikings’ pass defense just got him paid

Yep. He should give Ed Donatell a chunk of his bonus as a thank you and retirement gift.

Of course. Not cave into the demands of an average qb.

I guess Daboll thinks he can continue to mold him into a poor man’s Allen.

Thanks

I don’t pay attention much to the nfl anyway so a guy like that will not be someone I would know. Even when I was into the nfl the giants was not a team I even would watch very much.

I really have no clue who this is and what college he played for.

He played 3 or 4 years under David Cutcliffe at Duke so people thought he was the next Eli or even Peyton.

only 82 million guaranteed though. that's not crazy for a QB in today's market

My point is this isn't even elite money right now. And will continue to not be by next year after all the other extensions happen.

In other words, that trip to the divisional round this year was as good as it'll get for them for the next few years
Or with an actual coach who knows how to run an offense and evaluate talent he saw the big jump Daniels made this year. We all saw it.

Enjoy your slide back to mediocrity, New York.

Just because the QB market keeps going up doesn't mean it's a good idea for teams to keep signing these insane deals. He is nowhere good enough to carry them after the inevitable roster crunch that comes with this signing.

Letting him walk doesn't make any sense either. If you have a guy you believe in then you are going to have to pay. It now lets the Giants put the Franchise tag on Barkley and they can still sign their free agents. That is modern football stability you have to have to compete.

Keep in mind the hard cap went up considerably. This is not the same 40-million-dollar signing that Dallas made with Prescott. If he makes his incentives, he will only have proven the organization correct.

As long as someone is willing to offer it, these big money deals for vets are here to stay. Watson to the Browns completely fricked the QB market.

For some reason, fans believe that these big QB contracts keep teams from getting to the Superbowl. Then someone should explain how KC just won the thing again.

Mahomes breaks "hidden" SB record

This might shed some light on the topic.

The last 5 superbowl winning QBs cost their organization an arm and a leg. These guys pulling max contracts are taking teams to the promised land, regardless of where they are in their signing. On occasion you get a Nick Foles who is riding the perfect storm. But that is the exception.

Patrick Mahomes, Matt Stafford, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes again, Tom Brady again. If you want to win big, you are paying your QB.

The fact that well paid QBs also fall flat on their face is only because someone chose badly. Beware what you pay for.
