Anyone else think it's an unfair advantage that they get to skip playing a confrence championship game?

Unfair advantage? Didn't the lack of one keep the Big 12 out?
Didn't the existence of one out LSU in?

SECCG has catapulted more teams into the NCG than knocked out. It's actually been a historically bigger advantage to have one IMO.

Have you looked at Notre Dame's schedule? Year in, year out they play a tough schedule. I don't see an unfair advantage.

Tennessee is the only team I can think of that lost a chance at a title in the SEC championship game.

they dont have to play a 13th game against a quality and potentially high ranked team. Thus the conferences with a title game have the potential of their highest ranked team going down. If that would be the case in Atlanta this year then there would be a chance the SEC would not be in the title game. Whereas ND and lets say BU could be sitting at home resting up and saving kids from potentially getting injured. If you dont see an advantage for ND then I am sorry I can't spell it out any better. And yes they have a good schedule but no tougher then LSU or Bama without that 13th game.

I think every power 5 should have a championship game.

I think every team should be in a conference.

How did that help the Big 12 last year?

It didn't. Guess who would not have been in the playoffs if the Big 10 didn't get the extra championship game? That's right, Ohio state.

There really is no issue here. History has shown the extra game HELPS.

Why should they have to join a conference?

They play a national schedule, they go on the road usually 5 times a year, and they technically have a conference schedule.

A team should be rewarded for winning that extra game. The issue is being penalized for losing it while a team lke Notre Dame gets to sit home and not take the risk.

it wont happen soon but I would not mind a 6 team playoff format where 1 and 2 get a first round bye. That would give all conference champs a shot at making the playoff and then an at large team. There would have to be qualifiers for the conf. champ. For instance lets say an undefeated LSU team plays a 9-3 UGA team. If UGA upsets LSU I dont have a problem with UGA being left out.

its simple math really.

being the best out of only 12 teams, is a hell of a lot easier than being the best out the remaining others.
