Maybe I missed it, but did that dude poison Padgett on purpose? And if so, why?
Or did dude "accidentally" give Padgett some bad stuff.

I suppose thats why we have trials

even if it wasnt intentional, he could still be charged for murder. i've seen some places charging drug dealers that sold fentanyl to people who have overdosed on the drug. obviously you have to prove that they provided the drug.

It was a pill. Most dealers aren't pressing their own knockoffs.

Correct but many do these days. Lots of "fake", cut dealer pressed pills these days. Not to say this particular dealer pressed these pills but someone did. Or he sold them as something they werent knowingly.

If he was a low-level dealer, he probably had no idea they were cut.

Right, the ones who are pressing are doing 1000s a day and selling in bulk, not street level. Doesn't take much carfentanil to create a hot spot and kill a person.
Even looking at Europe, where ecstacy pills are rampant af and governments allow testing sites... you see wide swings in mdma amounts from the same pill press. Kinda horrifying to see a 20%+ swing in potency, especially when they're pressing 10s of thousands. I don't expect clandestine opiate pressers to be any better at quality control. One of the beautiful side effects of prohibition.

No program is 100% clean. The average FBS team has somewhere around 90 to 105 players on the roster, at least few of them will be bad people

Statement from the family
"On March 1 of this year my son, Blain Padgett, made an unfortunate decision to buy what he thought was a pain pill from someone he trusted. That pill contained carfentanil, a highly toxic drug not meant for human consumption. Blain always took responsibility for the decisions he made and never made excuses. So I'm here to speak for him. He did make a bad decision and it cost him his life.
I expect these individuals responsible for making, distributing and selling this poison to take responsibility and to also pay for this crime.
I want to thank HPD for their hard work and, especially Detective Mike Miller, for seeing this investigation through and arresting Stuart Mouchantaf, who admitted to selling this deadly pill to Blain.
The Padgett family is not about drama, but we want other mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and friends to learn from our tragedy. We don't want another family to endure the pain we're enduring right now."
thats something you dont often see, the family accepting the responsibility for their kids actions or on their behalf. I know the family, not well but their tickets were in the same section as mine.
Cant imagine the pain, and am blown away by the courage and dignity
