See, this is where you're wrong. Some of the sting of losing in the title game last year was lighter, because "an SEC team won it"

The '6 straight national championship' shirts are repulsive. Especially when worn by fans of teams other than Florida, LSU, Alabama, or Auburn.

We get it, you don't thump your chest at the success of the conference. It's ok. Other's don't as well. Most of us do tho. It's kind of like a brotherhood. I beat up on my Lil brother all day, but I'll be damned if someone else does. Also, look at all the natural disasters that have happened in the south: and how that has brought fans of all 12 schools(not counting the 2 newbies yet) together for a better cause.

Good point. Auburn helping Bama after the tornadoes was cool to see.

I see that too. It's like if an SEC team that we played loses to another conference, it gives the other conference right to talk shite about us since we played the SEC team that lost. "Oh we beat them too, we can beat you" kind of mentality

Has nothing to do with that, its about the lack of respect to even acknowledge football outside of the conference.

Yeah, I'm sure the Pac12 is PRAYING for USC/Oregon to win the national title this year. How stupid is it to want teams you compete against to gain a better recruiting advantage.

First, the NFL does not select its playoff teams by subjective sportswriters opinions. The playoff formula is simple, have a better record than other teams in your division. Now, some schedules are easier than others, but not by a wide margin, and the rules are set in stone before the season. The NCAA selects it's participants in the 2 team playoff by sports writers subjective opinions. SEC fans are correct to point out that a record of 11-1 in the SEC is greater than a record or 11-1 in the Mountain West Conference. When only 2 teams have a chance to win the national title, it's important for those making the decisions to understand how hard it is to make it through unbeaten in a SEC schedule.

quote:

I'm not talking about conferences in general, I'm talking about the SEC's fans downplaying quality football played at specific schools.
Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma, Florida State, Texas, etc. put out just as many NFL prospects as SEC teams.

For me, it's not so much about the individual teams. USC, Oklahoma, or Boise St are all capable of beating a top SEC team in any 1 game situation. It's the entire schedule, and difficulty of completing a great season vs that schedule that makes the difference. The SEC pays for the best coaches in the country, and the schools have the most rabid fan bases in the country. In a usual season (UGA's dodging of the best SEC West teams was not usual), playing back-to-back-to-back games against the deep and well coached SEC teams is tougher than games at say... Northwestern, Illinois, and Penn St. The mid-tier to bottom dwellers of the SEC are much better than the mid-tier to the bottom dwellers of other conferences. The teams at the top are all comparable.

Notice how your "good" recruiting never lands defense in the Pac 12 or Big 12.

Talent isn't as spread. Texas, USC, tOSU, etc. all produce defensive prospects into the NFL

It's hard for me to watch my favorite team's two biggest rivals curbstomp Tennessee every year and then cheer for them during bowl season.

The one thing I do like about the SEC dominating is that I can see pretty much every Tennessee game on TV here in Ohio. Gone are the days where I can't watch a top 10 matchup between Tennessee and Florida because they're showing the Penn State-Pitt instead.

perhaps, SEC fans aren't the problem? You are pissed at a messageboard and jump straight to name calling in your retort. Clearly, you are too immature to carry on a rational conversation regarding the better conference in College football.
