How about duping an entire fan base for YEARS ! That "organization"...and I use that term VERY lightly, has historically been riding along on the MLB tv $ for decades. Until very recently {another new ownership group}, very little effort was exerted, to build a solid base so, they faltered year after year after year ! Totally taking advantage of ticket buyers/fans...is that not the overall "legacy" of the Astros ? Explain how I might be wrong in my assessment ?

Want to explain just how I'm wrong, in my overall synopsis of the Astros historical performance...on the field AND off ?
Have they not been at the bottom of MLB more often than the vast majority of teams...yes or no ?

They had one of the best farm systems in the game until purpura ruined it. Drayton McLane selling was the best thing to happen to this team

The Pirates just broke a 20 year streak of losing seasons.
Detroit went 12 years in a row from 1994-2005 without a winning season.
Baltimore had 14 in a row from 1998-2011.
Cincinnati had 9 in a row from 2001-2009.
Kansas City just broke a 9 year streak last year.
Milwaukee had 12 years in a row from 1993-2004.
Tampa Bay went 10 years from 1998-2007.
Washington was historically bad for a 6 year stretch from 2006-2011.
These are just the teams that have longer streaks of losing seasons within the last 10 years.

Thanks for the feedback...did not realize the 'stros had been doing so well..lol !
I do get your point that they are not the worst run franchise, while certainly residing in the nether regions, of the standings, for a long time.
I used to have season tickets and actually enjoyed going to games w/ the kids/customers etc. At some point it just became sooooo obvious, that actually being in contention, became an after-thought, to the organization. Their ineptitude was reflected in field performance/ W-l records and soon began pissing off the fan base....leading us to the current situation.
Wish there were some form of relegation for sorry arse teams,as in Europe..lol

You have no idea what you are talking about, you do remember they were just in a world series in '05 right?
Astros actually have a pretty strong history especially from around 1980ish on. Really have only been terrible since like '09 when Drayton was running the team abysmally and it was time for him to sell.
Crane and Luhnow are building this team back up the right way by saving money (to bring in future missing pieces) and building the farm system to now be the leagues best. Just wait the Astros will be serious contenders in the next 3-5 years or so IMO.
The only thing this ownership has done bad IMO is the TV deal, which is inexcusable and hopefully will get fixed soon.
Please shut the hell up about the Astros when you don't know what you are talking about.

You honestly shouldn't even have to explain that to him. Seriously.

During the last 30 years, they have been competitive by finishing either 1st or 2nd in their division almost 50% of the time.
YES, they have sucked the last 5 years. Coincidentally, that is about the same time that the former owner announced he wanted to sell the club. During a 3 year period, he traded every prospect he could for aging, over priced veterens to try to buy a WS. He also failed to restock the farm system. They went from a top-5 farm to a last-place farm in 2 seasons.
Yet, you want to try to convince everyone you once had season tickets and followed the Astros?
bullshite big daddy. Personally, I think you are an LSU Granddad Alter

Hope he and Luhnow don't but heads. Can't see Ryan being much of a sabermetrics guy
sabermetrics is a bull shite name for beanes business model. it sounds statistically superior but it doesn't really use statistics. for example, he postulates that giving up an out using a sacrifice to advance a runner is less likely to produce a run than let a hitter, ANY HITTER, swing away. i call bull shite on that math. of course, he's in the american league and who the frick bunts in the american league?
moneyball made him the bucks and all he did was reveal the poor man's survival techniques in mlb. fire the scouting dept and use obp instead of ba. and people bought it.
common sense is common sense and there is no substitute for it.

I have. Once when I was 6 and he was with the Astros. Then again 2 more times in Round Rock and an Express game. And one more time on a fishing trip on the Gulf Coast some friends and I ran into he and Reid at the marina.
Oddly enough, he was a truly stand-up guy each time. Not to mention all of the charity work he and Ruth have spent time and money on over the last 30 years. Let's just forget that and convince everyone he is a huge a-hole based on one person's only interaction with the man.
I will admit, he and Reid both are very A-type personalities. They have a strong desire to "win". That can come off as 'elitist', maybe.
Could it be that perhaps the day you ran into him he was merely having a bad day?
