It makes life a lot easier as a head coach when you can coast through the regular season and then turn it on with 24 year olds in the post season. ETA: I mean Mike Katic, a decent interior lineman who topped out as a 3rd team all big 10 member in his 5th season, was paid $300k to come back for that 5th year.
