Barners down by five get fouled shooting three with 1.1 left, only shot is to make first two and miss for a potential kickoff or get fouled again.

He might've attempted to miss but didn't, it happens all the time. Also with 1.1 left and needing a 3 they're probably screwed anyway. The odds of getting the rebound and back to a shooter who can get it off is probably just as low as forcing a UK 5 second violation.

With the chaos of a batted ball off of a rebound with one second to go, there would’ve been no time to get off a shot. Smart thing to do was make all three, pressure the inbound, and hope for a five second call, or a steal

Important point is the miss has to bounce off the rim. If it's off the backboard, or an air ball, Kentucky gets the ball.
Makes the intentional brick harder.
