Bochy was an idiot to not start Moore in the 9th and go from there.
That is what I thought also, but I just looked it up and Moore threw 120 pitches. He might have told Bochy he had nothing left for the 9th...or Bochy didn't want to hurt the guy after all those pitches.
If your bullpen sucks so bad that it takes 5 guys to get 3 outs, you probably don't deserve to win anyways.

I looked for a sad gif of him to put at the end of the post...no luck

In his interview, it sounded like Bochy told him he was done, and instead of making it about himself, he agreed.

I can't bash a manager for taking a guy out after 120 pitches. That is on the high end. Those relievers get paid to do a job also and it isn't Bochy's fault that 5 straight guys he sent out there all stepped on their dick.

This is just dumb. Moore had thrown 120 pitches and is coming off of Tommy John surgery.
He should be able to take a guy out in that spot and have a bullpen get 3 outs before giving up 3 runs at home to a team that appears to be struggling mightily all night long.

Bochy would catch hell no matter what. If Moore implodes, he becomes Grady Little leaving Pedro in too long. Peej would be in here going, "he hAd 120 PITCHES. HE WAS DONE. FACT. THey COudnt hit Romo in GAME 3!!!,,,,"

I wonder what the SF fan reaction was. I feel like if my manager had won 3 rings in 6 years he'd be pretty bulletproof for a while

Yeah, I loved it when that goofball gave up the hit to KB and then got pulled. Not much ML Carr towel-waving then was there?

He had so much irrational confidence in that AB. He was grinning and mugging during his wind-up. I had a feeling he was too amped when he was throwing in the left-handed batter's box.

Smoltz said as much watching him warm up.

Yeah, lots of pitchers that have had Tommy John throw 130-135 pitch complete games pretty frequently. Yes he did when trying for a no hitter. This was not the same. As usual, you're wrong.
It's real easy for you to sit here and say that AFTER you watched last night unfold.

Yeah, definitely a no win situation for Bochy. No pitcher in today's baseball climate throws 135 pitch complete games. None.
For someone to say they expect a guy that has had Tommy John surgery in his career to do it is just crazy. Honestly, I was surprised he took his final AB. I think he was around 95-100 at that point.
100% right that if he came out and walked the first two hitters or hung ONE change up that got hit hard, every single one of the people saying he should have stayed in would be saying he left him in one hitter too long. The MSB has the best baseball in game strategists in the world.

Just watched a replay of the 9th. Man Chapman was super intense after that final out. I like how Fox replays it showing different player's reactions

He almost looked like he didn't want anyone to touch him. Like he wanted to get 4-5 outs that inning. It might have taken the Giants 8-10 PAs to even put a ball in play had he just kept pitching without going back to the dugout.
I didn't see him for a couple minutes of the celebration. I told my wife he must've gone back in the locker room to frick some stuff up.
