Astros could easily support a payroll over $110 million. Only reason that haven't is the owner won't.
The Cubs also sell the ballpark out every night because it's a tourist attraction. That's a big advantage. I was at the Cubs-Astros series in Houston right after the All-Star break, and the Astros fans had a pretty poor showing. Granted, they weren't playing well either. But, fan support isn't nearly the same in Houston as it is in NY, LA, or Chicago.

anyone wanna delve into the amount (or lack thereof) of money the fish spend on payroll? don't they have two rings in the last 11 years?
That is depressing to me and should be to you too. That and the Dbacks.

Whats your point? The Yanks can outspend the Cubs. They're at home right now. Its not all about the money. Ok...the Astros got swept in the World Series. Make fun of that when your team has been to the W.S. in your life time.

Ya know...I keep telling myself..the Red Sox when blown out by the Yanks in game 3 a few years ago looked terrible..maybe you have to hit rock bottom to feel no pressure to do things right.

This is true. And with attendance like the Cubs, the payroll could be even higher. But as it is, Drayton McClain has enough money to bump the payroll WAY up.

Are you an idiot? The Yankees have like 30 World Series titles. 4 alone in the 90's. Money CAN buy titles. It doesn't work every year granted, but the law of averages are in your favor. The Marlins won a couple with a low payroll, but historically larger, big market and deep pocketed teams are successful
