I was hoping the Avs could get Blackwood and now I’m pretty happy with what they gave up to get him.
Georgiev IMO lost something during that series with Seattle. He was borderline great the entire regular season but then started giving up soft goals. It carried into the next season culminating in the playoffs where he suddenly found form again.
This year was eternal yips. He can be good on the night but my god he’s guaranteed to give up a first few shots goals 3/4 of every 5 starts. Most of the goals he gives up are bad. He’s great in shootouts go figure. You can’t lose this teams window on bad goalie play.
I hope he does well in San Jose.
This Avs team can win a cup with average goaltending- proved that with Darcy (had a good regular season but was average to bad in playoffs)

It’s pretty miraculous that we are still talking about having this window given the Landeskog and Francouz injuries derailing things.
Hell of a job by Sakic and McFarland to keep the train rolling. I do think we lose Mikko to free agency, but damn would it be nice to have the final 4-5 years of this window close with the nucleus that got us past a 48 point season just a year later.

Landy just needs to announce his retirement. Hope you’re wrong about Mikko. I feel they’ll find a way to sign him.

Why is this stickied again?
They unstickied it and now its stuck on the bottom again.

Agree about Landy - no way he's playing close to his prior level even if he does come back. Lonzo Ball just came back to NBA from same procedure after almost two years out but... If you haven't played in two years it's done and everyone needs to move on.
I think they're going to try and re-sign Mikko knowing the cap will go up in the next few years. I don't think he will get $14 mill AAV.
If they think they can't or won't resign him - make a blockbuster deal so he doesn't walk for free. Avs need him, though, he is a guaranteed 40 per year and 80+ points.

How many EN goals has Mackinnnon passed on to assist on hat tricks, 4 or 5? He deserves to wear the C

Wedgewood has been ridiculously good for us since acquiring him. Starting to feel like the Avalanche are getting going.
Get, and stay, healthy and this’ll become a fun ride again!

It’s been a lot the past few years, including the notable one to give LOC his first hatty last year in lieu of MacK getting his own.
On the C thing, Nathan himself has said he doesn’t want it. Doesn’t mean that Bednar can’t convince him he’s the right one to have it on his chest.

As great as the first line played tonight, I think Colton, Casey, and Val can be dominant. Great passer with 2 net crashers.

how did we get so many Avs fans on here?
just curious

Peter Stastny was my first favorite player and then Sakic. Have followed the franchise for quite awhile.

Been an Avs fan since the Red Wings rivalry of the mid late 90s because that was on ESPN

Penguins destroyed the Canadiens 9-2 tonight.

I’m guessing the Oilers are back after the drubbings of Minnesota and now Vegas
And the Rangers just keep losing
If the Avalanche lose to shitty Nashville tonight I’m going to be livid

Peter Forsberg is my personal GOAT, I've been an Avs fan since 96 and was fortunate to go to many games through 2001. None since, but it still right there with my LSU sports passion. I listen to three podcasts almost daily, lol.
A few thoughts: I want to see lines distributed more evenly talent wise. I like Colton getting top six shifts. I would not hesitate to put him on the top line and move Lehkonen down to make that second line deadlier. I do like the idea of a healthy Drouin paired with Nate Dog which accomplishes that anyhow.
Val is a absolute wagon. There is only one like him in the league. Crossing my fingers. Let him be a wagon by keeping him on the wagon.
Goalie play is there now, I think with the Woods.
The Avs have to get better on that 4th line. I like Ivan squared but after that I'm still waiting...
I think they resign Mikko. He's a HOF guy and the Avs as an organization have always valued keeping those guys.
I think they make a big trade to get some scoring and special teams depth.
Landy is at best a hope. I don't ever see him returning to what he was. I see him being a third line contributor and locker room guy. That injury is just too much.
Anybody else notice Mittlestadt is minus 15-20? What's up with that?
I continue to believe Sammy G is undervalued. He continues to get dangled as trade bait by fans and I think he's key. And Toews is absolutely solid.
Finally, Cale Makar is a hockey cheat code and easily my favorite player. He is as good as it gets, and I mean that in the historic sense. He's always in the right spot and he is just deadly with the puck.
