So at the tailend of the 2nd period, the Canes score to go up 4-3. CBJ challenge, and the TV angle looks to show the Canes offside.
The blue line camera the refs see is the wrong replay. It's a previous zone entry. They rule the goal stands. CBJ get a penalty for the remaining minute of the 2nd, and 1st minute of the 3rd.
When the teams come out for the 3rd, the refs say "oops, we messed up" it was offside. So they remove the remaining minute of penalty time, but the goal stands.
Jackets lose by 1.

ETA: He's refusing to address the goal call. Foligno said it's a bad look for the NHL. Laine said it was the biggest joke he's ever seen.

Jarmo needs to have a talk with Torts. No fricking way Laine should have been benched for half the game over that 2nd goal.

I personally don't mind it. No man is above the philosophy of the team.
Laine hasn't played much defense at all. And if you watched the telecast, they showed he made the exact same mistake not collapsing and covering the backside slot when the Canes hit the crossbar on an open net earlier in the game. I can almost guarantee you that Laine was told he must collapse to the slot if our defenders get overloaded to his far side, and he didn't do it again.

Strange night for VGK. Blew a 3 goal lead in the 3rd but rallied to win 5-4. Cancelled post game media due to COVID protocols so we'll see if they get another unscheduled break.
