The NFL can't possibly be this stupid. I think this just smoke and mirrors because of the defenders complaining earlier.

Again he's the skip Bayless of politics. Alot, if not all, of what they say is rooted in truth, they just twist facts and exaggerate and ignore other rational opposing views. I have no doubt he legitimately heard something about the league insiders being worried about the future of the NFL, but I also have almost no doubt that he would exaggerate and foresee doom to boost ratings. As to what he's said wrong specifically, I don't listen to political talk radio but that Bane/Bain conspiracy theory was pretty bad

Bullshite.

Anyone who has ever played football was taught this, as a way of using their helmet as a 'weapon.' They would still be allowed to lower their shoulder, to absorb the impact (see rugby or Australian football).

Then why didn't he?

He just mentioned it as an aside, and moved on.

Uh...we were taught to lower our head to 1) protect our bodies and 2) gain an extra yard or two.

Any coach who taught you to hit someone with the crown of your head should be fired on the spot

NO ONE should absorb impact with their spine. EVER

Idk, bc he's a political commentator and not a sports one. Maybe he was just telling the truth and he doesn't bait when talking about sports the way he does when talking politics. I'm just saying he's not someone who's word I would take as gospel. But if you believe him then great, hope he's right.

Well actually I don't bc that would mean the NFL wouldn't exist. But you know what i mean

I find that he is an interesting opinion guy and commentator.

When he talks football, he is generally pretty dead on balls. Hell he got fired from MNF for telling an objective fact.

But it's okay to absorb multiple hits to the chest and rib area?

You run, tackle and you hit with shoulders thats the way its done. Your head is connected to the shoulders physically impossible to play any other way. If you dont your gonna have a lot of cracked sternums, fricked up adams apples, and broken jaws

Take that shite to the poliboard.

You may not agree with Rush on politics but he's usually pretty right when it comes to NFL.

this would be the most insanely stupid rule in the history of the nfl. I've said it many times and it's a very obvious statement but these owners/Goodell are nothing but businessmen and don't give half a shite about the game of football. It's a shame

If the NFL was serious about injuries they would reduce the pads

People would hit and tackle like rugby and they wouldn't throw their bodies around as much.
