That's my point. No way viewership on Netflix relates to profit versus what they spent for the right to broadcast.

CBS, FOX and NBC all lose money broadcasting the NFL, the idea is that they make it up via hooking people into viewing their other programming that they own and don't have to pay rights for
With TV ratings as bad as they are these days for non sports programming I bet they still lose money in the end

The networks make money off advertising. They don't lose money but I bet the advertisers do. No one buys a car because two gay guys or a mixed race couple drive it in a commercial.

No one “makes” money directly off of advertising unless it’s a new product/product line or new company to the market. They advertise for the impressions so that when you think of or need a particular product or service you think of that company and their product/service.
