re: NFL to suspend players for "Head Shots"

and it's not even really "helmet to helmet" hits, as that's going to happen
it's spearing hits, where the defender lowers his head. it's very dangerous for BOTH players and has no real use other than a kill shot
if you keep your head up and see what you hit, you should be fine

I love the internet badasses on this topic. Cheap shots are the issue. Some of that shite going on is just flat out cheap shots. Take that shite out of the game. Its already a rule you cant lead with the helmet head to head, just enforce it.
BTW you arent allowed to punch a player in the mouth or gouge his eyes, or grag his nutsack while he's down either. fricking flag football!

they need to do this to discourage these cheap shots. you can still be tough, light somebody up, and "own" the middle of the field as a defensive player without launching your helmet into anoter player's head. that is a cheap, dirty way to hit someone and no coach teaches their players to tackle like this.
Merriweather shot on Heaps
this is the type of hit that they are trying to eliminate with suspensions. i don't see how it's a bad thing. for the people trying to defend this type of play, how do you explain Belichick benching Merriweather for an entire quarter after this hit?
You can still light someone up without leading with your helmet

As long as they don't start going bat shite insane with accidental helmet to helmets, I don't care. Then again, this is the NFL, and they tend to overdo things if they feel scrutiny.

I agree with this.

Its about time they did something. I was at friends house and saw two of those hits this weekend and they made my stomach turn. I am pretty much over this barbarian sport, unless they do something drastic to protect these head injuries.

i dont understand why some of you guys think that football isnt enjoyable to watch without helmet to helmet hits? theres never a time where you say "that hit would have been so much better if her put his head down and went helmet to helmet" i think its a great rule. harrison's two hits were cheap shot as was the guy from new england. its a good rule. thought football players know the risks it shouldnt be guaranteed that you're going to get brain damage after retiring from the nfl

so one college kid gets paralyzed and all the sudden the NFL is turning into the pussy league, awesome

this has nothing to do with eric legrand from rutgers getting paralyzed. it has to do with 4 guys getting knocked out of the games in one day. idiot

its not just "helmet-to-helmet" hits. it is goign to be ANY devistating hit. A league official said on Mike & Mike this morning that even the Jackson hit in the Eagles/Atlanta game as per the rules would lead to the defender getting suspended. That is what most of us are complaining about. Not the intentional helmet to helmet hits like in the Patriot's game.

Well at least your inability to process logic makes sense.
