Patriots' owner Bob Kraft still thinks this will all blow over (at 76 he might be experiencing dementia)

Jerry Jones is holding up Goodells contract because he wants it re-written to be more incentive based. And that allows him to punt issues like kneeling, which is destroying the owners revenues

The ratings, tickets, and revenue shortfalls are worse than being reported

Everyone is terrified of Trump

Goodell can't even hold a meeting about the anthem protest without creating more controversy. Shut the NFL down for a weekend. Everyone just needs to take the weekend off, no games, no fans, no players, no coaches having to answer questions about it, no owners.

Continuing to talk about this absurd issue is what's doing it. Do people seriously care? I just have a hard time grasping that.

What exactly is that going to accomplish?

I don't know why they don't just say it's up to the respective owners, that the President has no say in their private business dealings, and then basically tell everyone (NFL personnel) to shut the hell up about it. Just flat stop answering questions about it.

It will certainly blow over if everyone stopped paying attention to them and worried about the actual game

I'm more entertained by this incredible situation than I've been entertained by this league in years. This entire situation is totally compelling.

All in all, the players are weakening the very league that puts millions and millions of dollars in their pockets. While the league itself has such little balls, they've allowed the commissioner and its players to tear it apart.

Watching probably the most profitable sports league in modern history completely dismantle itself is far more entertaining than the games have been in a decade.

Because that will make the players want to participate....

You think? Bob McNair said something about inmates running the prison and almost 10 Texans players walked out of practice.

Trust me. The cooler heads have NOT won out. This shite is just getting started.

I agree that some people are turned off by the kneeling and it could be affecting ratings. There are also other factors affecting ratings.

My uncle is a hard core conservative and stopped watching the Saints about a month ago due to actions of some players. I also have black friends that have posted on social media that they are not watching the NFL because of their handling of certain issues. So it seems as though fans with vastly different beliefs are being turned off to the NFL for different reasons within the same topic.

Yup

Thursday night games look to be on their way out. Expansion into London and Mexico is probably dead. And advertisers are feeling the sting over lowered sales (Papa Johns and Bud Light), and are getting about 20% in free ads called make goods

It really is crippling the NFL, and Goodells pasty liberal arse is the one responsible

THAT is the conundrum that makes all of this chaos great. Everybody gets to play a part. It's so awesome.

It reminds me of Enron in the early 2000's.

I almost wish I could go to the future and read the Wikipedia entry on it. "The NFL was a sports league that collapsed under it's own weight, in spectacular fashion, because of confused and idiotic social issues nobody involved had any control of..."

Surely the aliens have to be watching this and thinking "Oh, man. Wow. Just look at THIS bullshite..."
