I hear ya. I'm a college student too. My unit is 10 bucks (I play higher volume with smaller amount). Chump change, but I still enjoy it and play smart with my money. Only game this season I've gone more than my unit was LSU -18 against Auburn at 3 units and it burned me. Haven't bet more than one unit on a game since.
ETA: Not saying that has to be your approach. Just chiming in my thoughts.
