Birmingham is a college football market.

People there love the sport, it would’ve been top 5 if it was Ohio State - OU.

Birmingham being 14 pct higher than Greenville and 16 pct higher than any other southeast market is pretty noteworthy

The surprise here is that Birmingham isn't #1, because 99/100 times Birmingham is the #1 market when there's 1 college football game in a day. I guess Bama fans are obsessed with Florida and Miami too.

Get some help

You're projecting your own unhealthy obsession with Alabama onto others.

Call it what you want, but the casual Alabama fan doesn't give a frick about LSU. We mean a lot more to you than you do to us

No, it doesnt usually beat the local market of the teams involved

Didn’t Alabama lose in the first round that year?

That might explain the “down” viewing year for the championship.

ESPN’s broadcast of Oregon’s 59-20 rout of Florida State posted a 15.5 overnight rating, while the 42-35 win by Ohio State over Alabama earned a 15.3 rating, the highest-rated New Year’s Day college football games on any ESPN network.
