ND is relevant as far as people talk about us. People care (either way) and people will watch. If people stopped doing that, even with the history, ND would no longer be "relevant". But people will always have an opinion about the Irish. ND will never be irrelevant.

ND's history is what led us to be relevant, but it's not what's kept us relevant.

you are being awful generous with your definition of relevant.

Yes, ND is irrelevant in the world of college football right now. I know you refuse to acknowledge that but its true. Will they always be irrelevent? Probably not, but I would probably be willing to wager a testicle that they never again dominate.

ND is irrelevant right now. Yes, people still talk about them, but its because they are laughing at them. If you want your relevance based on that then that's pretty pathetic.

ND is like an older woman who used to be hot but isn't anymore, but she can't accept it so she still tries to get dolled up and still goes to bars, and sure, a few men hit on her here and there but its usually just because their buddies dared them or they lost a bet.

People talk about all programs. As long as ND fields a team, then they will be talked about.

They are irrelevant when it comes to competing with the big boys.

Again, you guys are being generous with your definitions of relevance.

People talk about ND because they hate us. Is that because of the history? Yes. But what I mean is even with all the NC's and Heisman winners, if nobody cared anymore about ND, then we wouldn't be relevant.

I stick by what I said, the history made us relevant, it doesn't keep us relevant.

And with that history, it's a shame to see ND students rushing the field after their team beat a WAC school. It is what it is.

You said it perfectly, it is what it is. A fun time bonding with your friends and the players, just celebrating a win on the seniors' last home game in one of the best wins ND has had recently. It's not some "statement". People make too much out of it, like this means we're content now with just this or that we're going to settle for this. It's just celebrating a win for a program that has not been good recently and having fun. Really, that's it. The problem is when people try to make it more.

You ND fans truly are delusional.

NEWS FLASH: People hate ND because they are snobs and they act like the are entitled. It has nothing to do with the history.

And why is that? Because of the program's historical success.

The fact this thread was started shows ND is relevant. Give a lower Big Ten team the records ND has had the past three years, and nobody even starts a thread like this. But people will always find a reason to talk about ND, largely cause of hate/other reasons like the NBC contract.

lots of programs have great histories and don't get anywhere near the amount of hate that ND does.

You are pretty fricking dense considering your inability to use common sense. Go hardleg 4cubbies or something.

Well, since the OP acts like ND shouldn't be happy/it's pathetic for ND fans to storm the field for beating 8-2 Utah, I'll ask this: If ND fans/students were entitled, then why would there be a storming for Utah (going by this thread's original premise)? You can't have it both ways.

Right, because schools like Oregon (who has perhaps the worst fans in all of college football) are hated so much.

What a coincidence it is that Notre Dame, USC, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, etc are the most hated schools in the nation.

Exactly.

ND is "irrelevant" yet the nation tunes in because they hate their snobbery so much. Makes sense.

Snobs? I know a good number of ND grads and they're all good guys.

Entitled? I don't know about entitled. But they are respected and arguably the most consistently good program over the past century. They've won 12 national titles. I liken this to the crap that Tulane baseball fans say when LSU gets to host a regional despite sometimes a so-so record. When I get this from a Tulane fan, here's what I say - go win 5 national championships. Then Tulane will get some respect. ND has won more titles than anyone. I get a kick out of the anti-ND segment. I think they can be more delusional than ND fans.
