That's why you keep wrestling the entire match.

Watched a match at the Louisiana state HS tournament this year that really illustrates this. Wrestler 1 was stalling his arse off running around the mat, the stalls get called but he's up 10-9. They go out if bounds and reset in the center with 2 seconds left. Whistle blows, Wrestler 2 attacks, wrestler 1 stalls again, wrestler 2 wins 11-10.

never watched but i’d be lying if that Gable match didn’t get me hyped

i know nothing of the sport but it’s seems like such a passionate environment to be around

midwest takes their wrestling as serious as the south and their college football

That's gotta be the biggest upset in college wrestling history, right?

It's certainly up there...

Larry Owings over Dan Gable
Matt Ramos over Spencer Lee

It’s truly one of the most intense environments in sports. The semis/blood round session is the best round and the biggest emotional roller coaster. I’d encourage anyone to go to that tournament if given the opportunity

Man, I met Doug about 25 to 30 years ago. fricker was still strong as nails.

Dale was a good wrestler in his own right but Doug would walk around on his hands, his upper body was so strong.

This was the biggest upset in real wrestling probably since Gardner beat Karelin. It's enormous.

Also, if Gable keeps at it, and it sounds like he will, he is going to fricking incinerate everyone he faces going forward for at least a year or two.

I thought it was funny that he was in college wrestling again, but hey. He'd been out. Not exactly his peak. Now he's gotta take that black eye on what was basically supposed to be a ceremony for crowning him the US's best HW ever. Hoping it gets him going and he takes down the Olympics again next time.

For a finals match, yeah. And it's the biggest overall in a long time too. Maybe since Karelin lost.
