Technically for betting on fantasy football.

But yes, it seems very superfluous given that the fact that it is a different sport and they have no ability to affect the outcome

They should have just taken fake classes and had people write papers for them. They would have escapaed punishment

I imagine Louisville would love that to happen before the hammer comes down from Indy.

This is absurd. It's not like they were pulling a Pete Rose and betting on their own games.

Seems pretty clear to me that something like a fantasy sports league where money is on the line is an obvious thing to ban. It would be easy as hell to pay players off by having them join multiple leagues and then losing to them on purpose.

Whether they were playing daily or with friends in an ESPN league or whatever is pretty important IMO. I personally don't think either should be against the rules, but you just have to know you can't be on Draft Kings if you're a college athlete. If they were playing for 20 bucks a piece with 10 friends though this is absolutely rediculous.

The sad thing is Richmond isn't a major program, so the NCAA might actually drop a hammer.

UK certainly knows what it's like for the hammer to come down, having the most corrupt sports program of all time
