As a football coach I am actually ok with this. Some of the most violent hits come from KOs.

If they have to change something to eliminate the hits then they should just switch to the high school kickoff rule. If the ball goes into the endzone, you can't bring it out. This would stop the majority of returns, but it would still allow for the onside kick.

Just give them an option.

Either onside kick and if the balls goes past the 50 and recovered by the receiving team, they get it at the 50, or give the team that got scored on the ball at the 20.

Not that difficult.

A couple of years ago I would have hated this. However, it's starting to become more and more apparent that if something doesn't change with the way the sport is played, it probably won't exist in 15 years.

If making safety improvements like removing kick-offs can decrease injuries while not effecting the core game play itself, I'll deal with it.

Wonder how much shorter a game will be without kickoffs? that's 1 less commercial for every score.

Probably a good 30 minutes shorter

Remember the clock rule changes that were to make games shorter? The games are as long as ever with just more commercials, just like anyone with a brain knew would happen.

Still too violent. In lieu of onside kicks, the kicking team shall roll the Strat-O-Matic 20-sided dice. If it lands on 1,2,19 or 20, you recover!
