The Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers are engaged in Paul George trade discussions as Thursday's NBA Draft draws near, according to league sources.

But sources told ESPN that it remains unclear whether the sides can agree to trade terms before the draft, given Indiana's desire to acquire the Lakers' No. 2 overall pick and L.A.'s well-chronicled reluctance to surrender it.

The Lakers have been adamant, with one team source going so far as to say there's "zero chance" they'd part with the No. 2 pick or last season's No. 2 overall pick Brandon Ingram in a trade for George, knowing that the Pacers' All-Star hopes to sign with his hometown Lakers as a free agent in July 2018.

Is there anyway we keep #2 and still get PG?

I will laugh if Magic caves and gives up that No. 2 pick just so he can have Paul George in a waste season

Yes, it will just be next summer. Magic is an idiot if he gives it up right now

Magic and Pelinka have all the leverage. They have lost their fricking minds if they even consider moving #2, Russell or Ingram imo.

He's not that dumb. He has to know that his team needs a long term fix.

...right?

I think it's pretty obvious George was leaking this so they wouldn't give up that pick, Russell or Ingram. If they were to do something like that I think it would hurt their chances of George being a Laker long term if that makes sense.

On Lakers-Pacers front: Paul George & D'Angelo Russell have same agent, Aaron Mintz of CAA, & he would like them to play together. Tricky...

Julius Randle also has the same agent iirc

I'd trade #2, Deng, and Mozgov for George. That 30 mil. savings on the cap would allow for you to add Paul now and Wade, Lebron, and Anthony next year.

Form the super team Lebron has always wanted.

You son of a bitch.

Edit: just joking of course. That'd be terrible to see.

Ingram seems like the odd man out of a deal were to get done. Russell and George have the same representation, Lakers won't budge on #2, and I personally don't think Indy wants Randle

Something we haven't talked about, I'm pretty sure LA get's George's Bird Rights if they trade for him now

I agree that is not the best team. I was saying only way I trade pick two is if Deng and Mozgov are added.

Those contracts are so bad going forward.

I really like:

Ball, Russell, Ingram, and Randle as a cheap young core. Without Deng and Mozgov's contracts the Lakers would be set up to be a great team next year. Could have added George and James to young core with money to add one more player.

They do, so they could offer him a 5 year deal with 8% raises, rather than a 4 year deal with 5% raises when his contract is up.

I don't think that's a huge deal for the Lakers if George really is adamant about coming there next season. I just think they're scared he may get traded elsewhere, like it too much there and stay
