We're now 13-3 against the top teams in the league. The next best lost to the Thunder tonight.

It's mighty early in the season to be playing your best ball... After the All-Star break is when things get really interesting. That said, the Hawks are clearly playing better than anyone right now.

That sounds mighty similar to the college ball "this team needs to lose a game" crock of shite. Yes you can learn from losing but it's always better to win. Playing great ball now is better than not playing great ball. The team more likely to play great in the playoffs is the team that just spent 82 games playing great, not the team who held off on their hot streak until the right time.

It's very rare that a team playing this well now is playing the best ball when the playoffs start. Spurs haven't had their Rodeo roadtrip yet for starters. That's always when they turn it on. And they are pretty good at the championship thing. Getting a high seed is great, but all the playoff series start 0-0. And nothing before that counts.

Ok so what are you suggesting and or arguing? Hawks should lose games and be less good now so that they can be hot for the playoffs? Would you rather win 25 of 27 or not do that because it's too hot at the wrong time? Save some of this good basketball for the playoffs? Are you saying that other teams that you consider contenders are not trying to be this hot? Teams are actively avoiding playing their best basketball. The hawks are disadvantaged because they are playing their best ball now?
Or are all of those things fricking absurd and the hawks, like all the other teams in the nba, should try to win all of their games? That does seem silly

I'm suggesting that American sports are flawed in that they reward the team playing well at the end of the season. This will not benefit the Hawks, who are currently peaking. I hope they make the Finals though.

Doc is actually playing Austin. Lawd have mercy on those who have crossed Donald Sterling

That's fair. Teams that play well towards the end are rewarded, but in the nba especially with 7 game series and home court advantage, you have to be really fricking good and be playing well. A UCONN or New York giants wildcard type team is not winning the nba championship.
Yeah the wizards who might end the season as a strong 3 seed could put it all together and make a run because they are very good. The bucks or pistons or whoever are physically incapable of making a legitimate playoff run regardless of how hot they are.
So that's why I'm basically dismissing your hot at the wrong time theory with the hawks. Everyone wants to be this good right now and it can't be a bad thing to be the best at any given time.

That f bomb by Jordan was great, don't they have a delay?

Agreed. The NBA has by far the best form of playoffs.

Its cable and 1am.. I don't think ESPN cares

The Clippers' roster is a disaster right now.

Clippers fricking suck. The Hawks would beat them 9 out of 10 times this year just because they throw up so many derpy, high-energy shots

It's all about Mark Jackson even while announcing making sure assistants know their place. Smh

I understand that not everyone loves the sport, but I love soccer's system. Most points (wins-3, draws-1) at the end of the season wins. Play everyone twice. There are also plenty of tournaments that are meaningful to get your playoff fix. And the relegation/promotion system makes tanking not an option.
It's really odd that the most capitalistic country in the world has such communism in its sports leagues, while those Euros are the opposite.
