re: NBA releases Top 15 coaches of all time list ETA: Jesus Christ it’s not a numerical list.

I always thought Spoelstra’s success was just due to the big 3, but the Heat’s run to the finals two years ago proved me wrong. I think he belongs on that list or at least near it because on paper that team had no business making the Finals. He’s a very good coach.

Doc has lost more game 7s than anyone ever.
Not an official stat but it wouldn’t surprise me if so. I feel like he has at least 4 or 5 blown 3-2 series leads that he lost as well.

Should I clarify that this list isn’t a order of hierarchy?

Luke Walton accomplished an incredible interim record during the 73-9 season and Mike Brown in the 2017 playoffs when Kerr was absent nursing his back, incredibly expendable
I would argue that Luke and Mike's success is a result of Kerr already having the system in place, and at that point they didn't have much to do. If Luke Walton or Mike Brown was the full-time head coach for the Warriors, they wouldn't have had nearly the success that Kerr has had.

Doesn't that detract from Kerr's value as a head coach though? I mean, if he's out and his interim assistants do just as well with that talent on the court from the sample sizes we have, then he isn't valuable vis a vis the greatest coaches of all-time. If you're going to be a top coach in the history of the game, your value can't be expendable. I literally provided 2 cases where his value was WITH THAT EXACT SAME TALENT. Isn't the whole point of being a top coach of all-time mean you represent massive and irreplaceable value? Because Luke Walton and Mike Brown resoundingly debunked that shite.
ETA: BTW the Warriors didn't make the playoffs in 2020 covid bubble year and 2021, denoting it's more the talent than Kerr's ability as a coach. Kerr is overrated and not valuable as a HC in the annals of basketball.

Pop will tell you all the time Tim Duncan is the reason for the Spurs dynasty.
Kerr will tell you the same about Curry.
Hell Phil will tell you the same about Mike
None of these title winning coaches were coaching scrubs to the finals.

No shite.
Because you don't win titles with scrubs. No matter how good of a coach you are. In any sport ever.
But to the point of the thread Phil Jackson is number 1 and it isn't worth discussing. So this is a click generating list not worth the time.

With 2 HOFers on his team and 1 more to be named?
Come on man.

Doc rivers is a horrible coach, dude mismanaged the Celtics big time

Yeah Karl should be honorable mention.
Don’t think he’s a snub but he won a shite ton of games (6th all time in wins)

It’s politics for sure. Karl buried a few players in his career, didn’t make a lot of friends.
Mike D’Antoni should get some love for his impact on the game.
Carlisle to me is a big snub.

Billups and Ben Wallace are HOFers.
Rasheed Wallace should be.
That team wasn’t a bunch of scrubs, as implied by your post.
