Doesn't MLB already do something similar?
Yes, which you'd think if MLB has it when the miss rate on top picks is higher than any other sport and those picks generally take the longest to have an impact on the team, then every other league would already have it.

First-round draft picks can be protected only for top-four or top-14-plus selections

Lottery odds freeze at the trade deadline or a later date

Lottery odds allocated based on two-year records

Flatten odds for all lottery teams

All of these are somewhat feasible in fixing the known issue.

Removing the ability to protect something other than 1-4 or 1-14 solves one particular issue where teams try to get under an arbitrary draft position to keep their pick, which is what OKC is bitching about with regards to Utah.

All other solutions are potentially useful but have their drawbacks. Flat odds in particular run the risk of repeating the Magic’s Chris Webber draft where a Magic team that barely missed the playoffs won the lottery a second year in a row and got what was seen as another generational talent to pair with Shaq.

Granted, Webber got traded to the Warriors for Penny Hardaway and picks, but a recent expansion team winning two generational talents caused a lot of butthurt that got the lottery odds changed significantly for better teams and new expansion teams.

How about doing the lottery publicly so we know it's not rigged.

It's wild that you're an old man and are this bad at communicating with other adults. You post like an autistic thirteen year old.

it’s crazy that the league who doesn’t just let the worst team draft a good player and get better has the biggest issue with team tanking

Go to live ping pong balls like in the 90s, maybe even early 2000s.
