Because he is a much better player than Biyombo and fits well with Ibaka up front. You have 1 scoring threat in that starting lineup. Payton, Green, Biyombo and Ibaka make for a team that will average 92 points a game.
He awful defensively, Vogel wants a stout defense obviously.

Enes Kanter could put up 20/10 if given the minutes, too.
Should he start?
Should he start?

Depends on the roster.
Fit is a reason.

I can't complain one bit about what my Magic have done this offseason. They traded Tobias Harris last year to free up room for two potential max contracts this summer. Well, no tier 1 names wanted to listen, so they played the hand they were dealt perfectly.
They filled out the roster to be very balanced, well-rounded and versatile, all while being responsible and not putting themselves in hell with a horrid long-term contract for an OK player. Most importantly, they transformed a crap paint/pick and roll defense into a potential top 10 one.
I'll take winning games 90-83 all day if it means playoffs. Are they a conference contender yet? No. But if Payton, Hezonja and Aaron Gordon develop then we are in business. Oh, and they can sign a max deal next summer with what they've done.

You cannot be serious...the Magic have no direction whatsoever.

Go read my post again. This time, all of it.

Yeah...I read it. Laughed too.
No direction with that organization. Just acquiring players with no regard to fit or development of their young talent.
The Ibaka trade was laughable. Overpaying for bench fodder like Biyombo...renting Jeff Green at the expense of Aaron Gordon and Hez's development.
Good luck with your "max space" next offseason.
Congratulations. Good offseason, good effort.

nd they're going to bring Vucevic off the bench? Dumb.
The Magic are back in the battle for the 4 seed
Seriously, a franchise like the Magic has to hit in the draft...so if they think Aaron Gordon, Payton and Super Mario are going to be stars...then the two bigs can be role players.
Vucevic just isn't good defensively. It's hard for players like him in the league these days. Just ask Greg Monroe.

Whats the point of Ibaka,Biyombo,Vucevic,Aaron Gordon? Gordon was playing great late last year.
Anyways discussing this all with a friend earlier, and I cant believe this is not the peak of the NBA. What I mean is, people are cutting cable in droves, meanwhile cable rates are going to have to rise to pay these leagues more and more in the future. Owners incomes will not stagnate, they will always rise, so will players salaries. Meanwhile the US economy is barely chugging along, Im in that upper 1% and even I could care less about dropping $175 to sit in row V at a rockets game. Sure Ill pay $1000 for a seat if the rockets ever make the finals, but on most nights id rather sit at home and watch on tv, but even I don't have cable at home anymore.
So the real question is if ticket prices have to go up anymore, and most are already ridiculously overpriced, thus we get empty bball arenas most nights.....is this all going to be sustainable as more and more cut cable in the future? I dont know but Im leery of how alienated the average fan must feel watching some mediocre guy like mike conley make $31M a year while you're making even a good wage of say $50/hr and paying $175 to sit 30 rows back, another $20 to park, and another $13 for a hot dog, while drinking a $6 bottled water.
I love sports as much as anyone and I really haven't been to a game in so long bc its just silly to me when I have an 80 inch tv at home, but I cut my cable a year ago so I can only watch whatever comes up on ESPN/ABC bc thats on my apple tv otherwise I miss out and its not the end of the world. I cant help but wonder how many other people are like me and how many more will cut cable in the future. Its not that $200+ a month was a big deal, its just silly I was paying so much for the U-450 package for 5 tvs and now I pay a fraction of that for hulu and netflix and amazon prime and there's always something to watch on tv.

So building a strong front court defense with flexibility to sign a scorer next FA isn't direction.
K.
I'd love to hear what you'd have done with them. Would you have stood still with a bunch of non-shooters on the wing and very weak paint defense?
Please enlighten us, Mr. RC Buford.

Jesus, you people who think Conley is mediocre are fricking retarded.
Conley is a top 7 point guard in a 30 team league.
Now if you want want to make the arguement about other players, fine I get it.
but look at the other leagues...Sam Bradford....and a dozen no name baseball players who making a 20+mill.
Sports salary bubble in general will burst, but other revenue streams will appear.
As far as the average fan, if they weren't alienated before, then why now? Headlines?
Most smart fans know you're worth what you negotiate.

My man I make a lot of money. I have a nice home, car,a big business and I work incredibly hard. Watching mike Conley make $350,000 in 35 minutes a night is disgusting to me and I'm as big a man of free enterprise as exists. I'm just saying if ticket prices have to rise anymore to support this at a time when people are cutting cable at rates never seen before it could be the beginning of a big problem

Have you protested baseball salaries yet?
Posted on 7/2/16 at 3:40 pm to 13SaintTiger
Ok we shall see what happens, salaries were bad before but the nba is taking it to a new level and the economy isn't exactly booming let's see what happens in 5 years as cord cutting goes into full effect, the us enters a recession and ticket prices rise

That's an exaggeration. Obviously there is a lot more work put into being a professional athlete, teammate and leader within organization.
When trying to convey an argument people often use this tactic....and it's intellectually dishonest.

and I'm sure someone thinks you're overpaid and aren't worth it.

You act like people have to watch sports. I'm a giant rockets fans and even I didn't give a damn when I cut the cord. I caught playoff games on ESPN/abc online and that's it. If they start charging for data you think people are going to pay to stream meaningless nba regular season games? I'm just saying all these increases are coming at the worst time, it's like the stock market this is the blowoff top. Let's see in a few years what happens with cord cutters as cable costs continue to rise. I saved over $2000/year going with Netflix + Hulu + Amazon vs att u450 package and all I miss is most sports? Are sports worth that to everyone? Not me if there's a big game I'll go to a bar or something, can't imagine too many others disagree
