watched something like 60+ Mavs games this year and 20 of those I was at the AAC. Sorry for not joining your nightly NBA threads?
If it ain't SAD, a weekday foosball game, or the playoffs I usually don't rock a game thread.
Just to add... let’s not forget how miserable Houston fans make it to participate in game threads. If you hop into one of those DAT threads be prepared to be downvoted w/the quickness

Iirc Sheridan was the first to report Lebron was going back to Cleveland in 2014

Sources: Carmelo Anthony has informed the Oklahoma City Thunder that he has opted into $27.9M deal for 2018-19 by not exercising his early termination option.
We all knew it was coming, but gah that is so much money for a liability. LOLKC.

Remember when George was so hell-bent on joining the Lakers? Well, that was before he found his way out of Indiana and into an Oklahoma City situation that might suit him well after all. Even with the Thunder coming just two losses away from missing the playoffs, and then falling to Utah in six games during their first-round matchup, there is all sorts of optimism in Oklahoma City that George will re-sign.
Conversely, there’s pessimism in James’ camp that George would leave Oklahoma City. George has raved about the Thunder since the beginning, making it clear to USA TODAY Sports in September that the organization had earned his confidence from the start.
Turning down a chance to play with LeBron in LA so you can live in OKC and watch Melo/Russ throw up bricks.

Gonna be awesome when y'all sign Boogie to a max deal and reunite him with IT.

The pendulum has definitely swung away from the stars grabbing long term max contracts as soon as they are offered, especially if they’ve already made 100MM or more. They see the example of Carmelo where that contract takes away any freedom to move or be moved and they want to be able to re evaluate their situation every couple of years
and you can’t really call it a gamble any more due to the unfathomable wealth they’ve already accumulated

Lebron and IT are not playing together

Meh. Around this time in 2016, every OKC source said Durant was a near lock to return to the Thunder
Posted on 6/23/18 at 12:26 pm to David Ricky
I legit think he likes playing with Westbrook. I think he liked OKC more than he thought he would. I think he's telling people that he's willing to give OKC a legit shot. But I have a hard time believing he's locking himself in there after having his meeting with the Lakers and gets a pitch straight from Lebron
Posted on 6/23/18 at 12:34 pm to WestCoastAg
Agreed on all points. I just cannot fathom picking OKC over LA or Philadelphia from a basketball perspective. OKC is going to have nearly $70 million per year tied up in Westbrook and Adams for the next 4 seasons. If PG re-signs with them, that’s basically their core going forward, with very few assets to get better and zero cap space to work with. Not to mention they are going to trot out pretty much the same team next season now that Carmelo picked up his option. And they have a cheap owner who has a track record of not wanting to go into the luxury tax to keep a contender together.

Yep. I also think a lot of this optimism from OKC comes from the fact that they are obviously going all in on the hard press while they are the only team who can talk to him right now. I that is going to change once he starts taking meetings

I imagine Magic Johnson is going to be very persuasive

I don't understand why the Lakers would blow everything up for Paul George. You could possibly get Lebron this year and Kawhi next year without having to send anyone away except Deng.
Keeping Kuzma, Randle, Ingram, and Ball would be more valuable than Paul George IMO.

Any rumors today? I feel like this is the calm before the storm

I really hope Magic can pull it off this summer and land the big fish in LA, but I keep getting the sinking feeling I'm setting myself up for disappointment. This is supposed to be the summer we were building up to.
