Sources: The NBA is expected to implement new rules to limit non-basketball moves that would result in an offensive foul or no-call beginning next season.

Full details and specifics on @TheAthletic: LINK

It's behind a paywall... so here's the important stuff

NBA referees will be trained to properly officiate the following actions used to draw fouls:

- Shooter launches/leans into defender at abnormal angle

- Shooter kicks leg at abnormal angle

- Offensive player abruptly veers off path (sideways/ backwards) into defender

even more players crying for not getting "the call" anymore?

This is a good thing

In an ideal world this would lead to less call begging because the star players who make their living off of getting free throws for offensive fouls, wouldn’t get rewarded for those actions like they currently do.

Lebron is so big he doesn’t really need to go out of his way to force contact in that way. He gets calls because of his size and athleticism

Harden and Trae would have to adjust big time. Still effective players and scorers, but that PPG is gonna take a dip

This is to get rid of the Ol’ KD and CP rip thru to get to the line when the other team is in the bonus. I like it.

Sounds like Lebron and James Harden may have to retire.

If they do it, it will go like it always goes when they target flopping or whatever. Two weeks of very tightly called, players will whine, the refs will stop calling it, Tim Duncan faces for no calls and jumping into people will go up.

Harden wasn’t even in the top 7 or 8 in free throws this year. He has transitioned his game to point guard from a score first mentality. He is the best in the league at either role. Lead the league in scoring on the best offense for 3 years. Then lead the league in assists on the best offense this past year. Whatever his team needs him to do.

Again, he was hurt. Not talking about injured. He was avoiding contact with his maladies.

No, he was pass first. He had scoring on his team. His HOU teams needed him to score. On BKN he could just be a point guard. He is elite at both role. Again, whatever the team needs.

I will say that Harden took the role of PG because Kyrie wanted more shots. Harden took that role and didn’t complain about it.
